West Plains Bistro

You gotta eat here and you gotta make a reservation. This spot is popular for very good reason. The four of us enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant. The service, food and glass of wine made for a great time. Excellent choice of menu items all priced reasonable. Parking is an issue but ok if you get their early enough, enjoy!

Picked up the kids at Aldershot train station and everyone was hungry. Thank you yelp reviewers. The place was full, but accommodated us on the bar. A lovely small corner bistro. Decor is a bit old but tasteful. One got the soup, the other the escargot. The wine was lovely and each of the four of us ended up getting a different type of fish. Everything was just perfect. I cannot replicate this in my kitchen. The fish and chips was above perfect. Thanks again. Just a lovely little unexpected food adventure.

Food was good, friendly atmosphere, and huge portions. Worth a visit. Not a lot of parking. Reservations recommended.

Staff was nice and decor was cozy but the Chef is very heavy on the salt with the entree...could not taste the food due to the amount of salt.

My wife Judy have been visiting the West Plains periodically fort several years now, giving us time to sample other restaurants in the Hamilton-Burlington-Oakville area. The Verdict: No one does it generally so well and so consistently. The menu is always interesting, with just enough unusual approaches to tempt you (the chicken Piperade - however you pronounce and spell it - is a great addition), the presentation is lovely and the service - in our experience - quick and attentive. Hit the steak houses for steaks and the Italian restaurants for pasta if you like, but for a cozy setting, fine service and great taste this is still our choice. If you go, say "Hi1" to the server Dave for us.
