Welland County General Hospital

I arrived in the parking lot at 10:20am. Parked and walked in. Asked for directions to the CT Scan department. Was given helpful and friendly directions and even walked part of the way there. Arrived at CT Scan department, immediate service, entire procedure under 5 minutes. Parking machine on the way out said I owe $0.00. This is PERFECT efficient and courteous service. Kudos to the team in the CT Scan department keeping it running like a well-oiled machine : !

Went today for my 2 year old daughter because she has an eyelash stuck in her eye. Full room, told 3.5 hours minimum wait. Prioritizing the way its done here makes it so people come in with their problems later on when they've progressed to a point where they are the ones being prioritized.

I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone who needs to go there for an emergency. My partner and I were waiting in there since he was bleeding bad and needed stitches and a tetanus shot . After two hours of waiting my partner went to ask when they could check him out, and one of the nurses just kept giving him attitude. After a while of waiting we just left without getting checked by a doctor …

I’m really torn in this review because it’s a mixed bag. Sometimes you have great nurses and support staff, sometimes you don’t. My frustration is with paying for parking I’ve had a handful of inconvenient encounters with trying to pay for parking. I agree sometimes it is hard to get staff to follow up on your loved ones, and the treatment isn’t always spectacular, but there are some great people who do make up for it.

Warning to mental health patients: THIS PLACE DOES NOT RESPECT PATIENT PRIVACY. They have a room specifically for "private video conferences" yet the monitor is connected to a speaker that is so loud that anyone near the room can hear everything said through the walls. My father also confirmed that the staff put him directly outside of the room specifically so "he could hear what I was saying". I was held at this hospital in empty rooms alone for over 12 hours with almost zero check ups awaiting a psych evaluation and they put me alone in a room full of potential hazards I could use to harm myself. This place needs a full investigation, new more caring staff and an ACTUAL MENTAL HEALTH WING.

Horrible experience DO NOT GO to this hospital! I had a bad fall and was brought in with 10/10 pain and not been able to move or walk at 5am. They ordered a WRONG x-ray and kept me in a METAL chair for over 7 hours with no help. I was crying non stop because of pain asking to lay down as i may have broken my back... Absolutely NO HELP medication or care was provided. They said no beds were available but.... 4 hours later dr comes to me and tells me to FOLLOW HIM I am in wheelchair crying I tell him I can't walk and he is sctually annoyed that he has to push me.. .he then hits a corner with a wheelchair....I screamed in pain and he didn't say anything.... This is horrible and scary place to end up at.....when you are so hurt and helpless My husband drove me home to Toronto where I am receiving immediate help and tests to rule out broken back and who knows what complications after visiting this horror hospital!!! I was supposed to NEVER been sitting down or bending in this condition, I could have been paralized....

This place is horrific. My mother was a patient there for 6 weeks with rapidly-evolving dementia. The staff completely ignored her, all day and every day. She was over-medicated, which threatened her life I am a nurse practitioner, so I know exactly what I am saying. This hospital needs to be shuttered and quickly!!

I'd rate a 0 star if I could. No one checks up on anyone, strangers have had to get nurses because people are having trouble breathing, puking etc. Drs just want you in and out or accuse you of doing things to yourself to end up there. It's sickening the amount of people walk out without help because they are to lazy to dig deeper or are to busy digging the wrong hole and accusing people of things that aren't true.

I have to say thank you to all those doctors and nurses in Emergency room here. Today I came with my little 5 year old girl and they were unbelievable fast and super friendly. Unfortunately my daughter’s hand is broken. I know people usually write reviews then they angry but we have to say thanks sometime…

On October 7/20 I went to the Welland hospital with a broken wrist. Everyone from admissions through the complete process was great. I was in a great deal of pain and was taken care of immediately. I had two doctors, nurse and respiratory nurse looking after me. My wrist had to be reset. I want to thank them all for making this stressful time as comfortable as possible.
