We've rented through Visit Up North for years and years and had excellent experiences, both with service through the rental agency as well as wonderful vacation propert experiences. I'm Completely baffled by these negative reviews and can't help but wonder if the issue was with the renter and not the company. I HIGHLY recommend you give them a try.

We found the Le Petite yellow cottage last minute while already up north...where to begin.. The backyard view and yard were amazing of big traverse bay,however the cottage left A LOT to be desired for 1,200 for the week. It is old and very musty smelling.Everything in this cottage needs updating...you just cant clean old. Upon entering I immediately wanted to open all Windows ,i started big window and whrn opening i found several clusters of spider webs in creases yuk! Found more webs under the sill . The furniture is is worn out (couch not TO bad)and old i didnt want to sit on ,and i didnt the entire week. The windows are all very old with those huge metal blinds ,some rust uhg. The bedroom closet also stunk like musty old,i wouldnt put my clothes in it. The last night in cottage we came back to bathroom window COVERED FULL of small lake flies,then noticed them all over ceiling ,on counter, toilet,just everywhere. When you crank open the window apparently the screen doesnt stay secure ! Same thing in bedroom. Stain on pillow case gross.Its small cottage and has a gally bathroom ,very narrow and i didnt want to touch the wall or in the shower..just wasn't clean ..mold in dome of grout lines in shower.Im exhausted from vaca bc I rarely could sleep and couldnt wait just to get out of cottage each day.Thank God for the BEAUTIFUL area we were in ,and water. Overall I would not recommend this cottage for the price, actually im very discouraged at the fact that these cottages in morthern Mi.can charge that amount, and they do bc THEY CAN for the location in summer time. Doesnt make it right.At least update your cottage.

I have rented homes from other renters in the past and have had great luck. That was not the case with Up North Vacation Rentals. I had rented a home on Spider Lake in March for a VAC that was to take place the last Week in July. I had to put almost $500 down on deposit. I called in May to cancel (Still 2 plus months before trip) and I could not get any part of my deposit back. Not to mention the staff was rude about it. I did not want to be out all that cash so we ended up going anyway. Only to arrive and have the house look nothing like it did in the pictures. By the growth of the trees compared by the pictures to current - they were taken about 20 years ago when someone actually maintained the property. The house in the picture had a nice waterfront home with a dock. We arrived to literally a SWAMP!!! complete with lily pads, frogs and snakes where the water in the picture should have been. I called immediately and left a message on the answering machine. When I did not get a call back - I called again the next day and spoke to someone in the office who claimed to be new and would call me back when someone else came in the office - I received NO return call. This place was so bad - half my party went into town and spent more money on a hotel. The state of the rental - ruined out trip!! We had hauled a Jet Ski up and could not even put it in the swamp (it would have ruined it). ALL the pictures must have all been taken with an elongated lenses, because everything looked much larger inside and out then it was in reality. I also sent e-mails with pictures of the rentals current state - again no response from anyone at Up North Vacation Rentals. I will never use them again or recommend them. I wasted $1500 on a rental from hell for 4 days and no one from the Rental place would call me back!! :(
