Bad experience from beginning to end. Wish I would’ve read these reviews prior to making my appointment. Reception said I was an hour early and told me to come back. After a lot of back and forth and confusion, she figured out it was my cleaning time she was looking at and I was on time. The dentist is a bit pompous. If rolling your eyes was a way of speaking to people, is how I would describe it. During my cleaning he spoke to the next client the same way. My cleaning was fine but she didn’t finish my top teeth! She said I had to make another appointment… so I left and I won’t be going back
BEWARE!!! THERE IS NO DENTIST!! I think this is actually a scam business and will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau and The British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals. I had been going here for years but moved away for a couple and now that I came back things are completely different. The reception staff seem to be completely incompetent and sent me home without paying because they could not get the system to work. I then had to return to pay the portion of my bill not covered by insurance, only to get an extremely rude call saying that my insurance rejected the claim, despite it clearly being accepted on my online account. I was not told at the time I made the appointment that there would not be a dentist in to see me apparently you have to make 2 separate appointments and a dentist is only available on weekends. I overheard this when the person ahead of me in line was told. The hygienist told me I have no cavities, which they are completely unqualified to say. I was given a scaling treatment, which does not seem at all necessary based on my research and was completed without informing me. I will never go back to this dental office and hope you take my advice to avoid it as well.
I went to this clinic for years as I needed dental support desperately. My interactions with Dr. Dhillon were hit or miss - some days he would be very friendly, but the majority of the time, I felt quite dismissed. As someone with a lot of dental shame and who didn't have the means or insurance to pay for any procedures when I was younger, I was relieved to be able to get my work done, however I left the clinic multiple times feeling horrible. During my first wisdom teeth procedure, I left the clinic crying as I had never felt so dismissed in my concerns particularly while I was in such a vulnerable space, i.e., being operated on and very overstimulated, and when I then felt emotional, it was chalked up to me not being able to handle the procedure which actually did not hurt very much, rather than due to the dismissive and belittling conversation we had prior to the operation. There was one very friendly receptionist, whereas the others were incredibly unkind and it was very obvious to me I was seen more as a source of income rather than a patient/person. Additionally, when I finally did switch dentists and asked for the xrays taken a year or two prior, the receptionist informed my current dentist that they had nothing on record because they hadn't seen me in years which was untrue. The clinic space itself is nice, but I do not think the interactions are worth it. My new dentist is incredibly affirming and listens to my concerns, as do the reception staff! You have rights as a patient and the right to be treated with dignity - best of luck!
The dental assistant and receptionist were both very nice which is the only reason it’s getting two stars. Dr. Dhillon was incredibly nonchalant and seemed to not even want to be there. I needed to have a tooth extracted and before hand he gave almost no information beforehand of what to expect or how to care for it after. I told him before it started that my body typically needs more numbing for it to actually work for me, he brushes it off and said “you should be fine” with just one injection. It ended up taking 3 separate injections and on the third one he seemed quite annoyed with me and preceded to very harshly insert the needle into the roof of my mouth making me literally yelp and start crying. When he got to the actual extraction he was very forceful which I know is to be expected with an extraction but this was next level forceful, I thought my jaw was going be dislocated. After the tooth was out he walked right out of the room and that was the last I saw of him. He gave literally no post op instructions at all. While I was still sitting there I had to pick fragments of tooth off my tongue as he left so much debris in my mouth. His assistant was super kind and was giving me all the post extraction advice she could be ultimately it was the same basic stuff that was on the piece of paper I was given. No info about how long it would take to heal, nothing about what to expect in the coming days or when I could stop worrying about dry socket. When the assistant went to find him to see if he had anything else to say to me after I could here him say “no” and she just came back and said I could leave. It all felt very unprofessional and honestly a little traumatizing. I’ve had to find all the information about healing by myself. That should be something the dentist tells you.
Had 2 wisdom teeth removed here. They asked me 3 times whether I wanted nitrous and every time I said yes. And then they didn't give me any. Afterwards I asked why they didn't give me any and they asked me, why didn't I ask the doctor while he was doing it? What while my mouth was all frozen and I have tools in my mouth, why didn't I ask him hey could you give me that nitrous now? Geeze. They did eventually end up taking responsibility for the mistake but only after a few emails and by then I already had a bad taste in my mouth. Not only that but the office was freezing. It wouldn't be so bad if they gave me a heads up so I could bring a sweater but I ended up going in a tshirt! It was soo cold. They told me the mall doesn't allow them to turn the heat on. I kind of doubted this so I contacted the mall administration and they said they had never given any such direction. So maybe they were lying to save on the electric bill?? this was about 3 years ago. Anyway I don't recommend going here. I switched dentists.
Best dental clinic in Victoria. Very friendly staff, accepts Healthy Kids Plan without charging additional fees. My family had the best cleanings that we have ever had. Relaxed atmosphere...more like a spa and less like a dental office. Headsets for Netflix and Sunglasses for the bright view out the floor to roof glass. Beautiful office. Dentist is very good. Highly recommend this office. Feel free to give my name as a referral...and book Kim for your cleaning. Gentle, experienced and very kind. Appointment bookings within a few days for cleanings...great with kids as well.
My boyfriend's experience for wisdom teeth removal at Uptown Dental was so absolutely horrible, I feel like I have to warn anyone who may be considering them for this procedure. We were called by the dentist Dr Dhillon about one hour before the appointment and were told we needed to go pick up the prescription for Ativan beforehand because he just realized they were all out at the office. So we rushed to pick up the prescription and just barely made it on time for the appointment. The dentist didn't apologize or thank us, gave no information about what to expect for the surgery, was way too laid back about the entire thing, and then just gave me a printout to read about post surgery care when I asked. It was entirely unprofessional right off the bat. One Ativan was given, and then nitrous oxide which was clearly not working as the dentist didn't seem to know how it worked, but continued to drill into my boyfriend's teeth, causing him unbelievable pain as he was completely coherent. Dr Dhillon would just continue to freeze the spot with a needle instead of evaluate the situation. He was almost done the first side when he decided to notice he was convulsing in agony and asked "are you feeling that?" and then said he would "max him out" on the nitrous. I had to intervene for the dentist to try and do something different to make the nitrous work, so he went and found a smaller mask, and then it finally started to kick in. So the first half of the wisdom teeth removal was basically torture. Dr Dhillon does not seem to know what he's doing for this procedure. When we asked about booking a follow up appointment, he chuckled and said it was not necessary. Listen to all the 1 star reviews and DO NOT go here for wisdom teeth removal!
My recent and first appointment at Uptown Dental Centre was a very positive experience! The team members that I was in communication with leading up to my appointment and once I got to the office were very welcoming, responsive, efficient, friendly and service focused. As a new customer to the office, I really appreciated Dr.Dhillon taking the time to chat with me to get to know me, and that him and one of the receptionist stayed after hours to ensure I was able to get all of the x-rays/scans I needed to done in my initial appointment. The customer service gesture was appreciated, and I will definitely be back for appointments in future!
We are blessed with such an awesome dentist as Dr. Dave Dhillon, and his staff. We recently got our night guards there. The procedure he used to get the shape of our mouths, was amazingly unobtrusive! There was no pain and no discomfort. The night guards are clear and fit beautifully. We love wearing them. Thanks a million, Dr. Dhillon! Thanks a million Uptown Dental!
Front office wasn’t wearing masks, and when we finally switched to another dentist due to our poor experience and our friends traumatic experience, our new dentist told my husband that he had tartar buildup over 7 years old!!! So what were they doing with our cleanings at uptown?? Who knows. Do not recommend. Go to Mayfair dental instead and thank me later
