Welcome to Tomo!

Tomo in Japanese means "friend".

Without all of our friends who have supported our journey, we could never have become the restaurant we are today.

A few friends went to celebrate a birthday one night a couple weeks ago. It looks like a pretty cool place but unfortunately some of the waitresses are very rude and unhappy people. I also don’t like being constantly pushed around by the girls anytime they want to walk past you. Its also very evident that they don’t want to have anything to do with you and just want your money. That being said, I’m sure there are still some decent people woking there - we just never encountered any of them, except for the manager who seemed like a nice guy.

Tomo Restaurant is a great Asian restaurant with lush decorations including sake bottles as lights and movie posters in the restrooms. The food is particularly great, especially the Tomo Rolls are among the greatest sushi I have ever tasted. Service is usually quick, helpful and friendly. Prices are slightly elevated but justified by the great quality of the drinks and foods.

The place has beautiful decor, wonderful decorations. I really liked the mural and sake lights. The place was nicely lit and wonderful atmosphere. The service felt a little slow. We waited for about 1 hour to get some of the dishes when the restaurant was a quarter full, only a couple tables, so it was odd to me that it took so long for some of our food to come out. Some of the dishes was really flavourful, the pressed sushi could have some more improvement since it was a bit cold and not seared enough. The steak was a bit tough. The drinks were good. Really loved the salad but the sushi was only okay. There is a bit of unprofessionalism in the service. Overall an okay place.

The first impression when I walked in is that the place is so gentle and opulent. The decoration overall is just amazing, one of the most spectacular restaurant in Ottawa. About the food, their prices are reasonable. I ordered three diffrent rolls, with a tuna dish, I gotta say that their sushi are so outstanding, delicious. Trust me they know how to mix flavours together. Fish is so fresh undoubtedly. Moreover, staffs are really open, friendly and professional. So if you're looking for a luxurious Japenese dinner then Tomo will be your very first choice.

A little bit pricey but this is one of the best sushi joints in Ottawa. The poké bowls in particular are delicious. Has a nice porch in the summertime and an interesting atmosphere inside.
