The Source

Went on the final day of their Black Friday Weekend Sale, was interested in buying a Lava Lamp, one of the really cool ones that has electricity inside and when you touch it the electricity follows your finger. Could not find any boxed up ones on the shelf so I asked one of their staff if they had any more in storage. He told me that he isn't bringing anything out from storage today and for me to come back in three to four days when he does. I told him in three to four days the black Friday sale will be over and I will have to pay double the price for the item. All he said was, well try Amazon. I am never wasting my time with the source again. I must note that I have always chosen to shop at the source instead of Best Buy or any other store but now they just lost my business for good.

The Source is a fun place for electronic do dads and peripherals. Their mainstream products (Cell Phones, Tablets, Laptops) are either on par or slightly more expensive than big box stores. Where they excel is in peripherals and attachments (cabling, ear buds, dongles, adaptors, gaming keyboards etc..). They do have some oddities (drones, video games, small appliances) but they are basically a chain electric store. Staff are geeky enough to know the answers to most things about their products. Parking is accessible from the mall and easy access to the Canada line.

What a nightmare that still hasnt been concluded a month later Pushy sales people and staff unknowledge on the correct procedure when returning phone and service 3 days later. They created hassles to keep my phone number from me and Virgin mobile is billing me for a "free " phone that i returned. I called them to phone virgin mobile to correct and the manager said he couldnt call until Wednesday??? What? Pretty easy to correct and take responsibility. Makes you wonder whether staff are taking equipment and making people pay for it.

Went in to purchase a charging cable, staff would not stop asking what my phone deal with Telus was. A little too pushy.

The Source has become the anti Apple Store. You cannot step into The Source without having pushy sales people try to get you to change your phone plan. I wanted to look at tablets and all he wanted to know was about my phone plan. The Source will not be around in 5 years. Alistair Vigier Investor Relations HART Legal
