So glad this restaurant is in the neighborhood! Been waiting for this to open and it didn't disappoint. Went during the soft opening and it was already pretty busy. Was seated and attended to promptly and throughout our stay. All the meats were delicious and cooked to perfection. Squid was a family favorite. Kept it basic with our selection this time around but definitely need to go back to try more menu items!
When we first arrived, the server closest to the door did not greet us. He was finishing up with another customer, but he came back later. I suggest you always acknowledge your customers first, even if you are in the middle of something. We ordered the BBQ Mixed combo with 3 entrees. It was $88, comes with a soup, rice, and dessert. 1. BBQ pork - a bit dry 2. BBQ duck - missing the five spice power. A bit bland. Not the traditional BBQ duck flavour I expected. The ducks in the display were missing the BBQ duck shine, that would entice customers. 3. Honey garlic ribs - delicious! One of the best I've ever had. However, it was most likely made at the same time as the one next to us; their portion was way bigger than ours. The presentation was a bit sloppy. Didn't clean the plate. 4. Squid and cauliflower - not bad. At least the squid wasn't chewy. 5. Bitter melon and beef - the beef was flavorful. 6. Milk tea - on the sweeter side, not much tea flavor. Could be a little more milky. Most importantly - I did not get crazy thirsty when I got home!!! Customer service was pretty good overall. They duplicated our milk tea, but gave it to us for free anyways. I can understand that they just started, and they will need some time before things will get more smooth-going. I overheard the owner say it's his first time in the restaurant business. I think this place has great potential. I'd come back, not right away, but a few months down the road. Keep up the good work! The Missus and I were there on the first day of the soft opening. I revisited 2 days later with my Mum and Father. My third visit was one month later with my Little Boy. It was understandable on the soft opening day, the menu was limited and service was slow. On the second visit, we had ordered 3 dishes but it took 50 minutes for the last order to arrive. We patiently waited after prompting the server twice and of course, we had already consumed the first 2 dishes. On my third visit, we again ordered 3 dishes but had to wait and reminded our server of the last missing dish. The food is actually decent when compared to other eateries on Victoria Drive. However, it appears after even one month, there still needs to be improvement in fulfilling food orders in a timely and efficient manner. Just an observation from the dining area, there is always a bit of confusion and holdup in the BBQ station when filling out the BBQ meats on rice orders. Special mention to the tasty char siu, roasted pork belly and the soy sauce chicken. Hopefully the start up kinks can be worked out because as mentioned, the food tastes well and dishes are fairly priced.
Decent place if you’re looking for HK cafe food and in South Van. The restaurant was packed but we only waited 2 min for a table. There’s a small seating area to the left when you walk in. Service was really great. They only had one server who was very pleasant and nice - he did so much- seating, refilling tea/settings,cleaning and taking orders. Food was also good with reasonable portions slightly less meat than I’d like but it wasn’t bad. Would go back to try other dishes like soy sauce fried beef and duck leg noodles
Second time here, things improved! Food are flavourful and in nice presentation. Service is a lot quicker. I enjoyed my meal and will come back again.Food: 5/5
Great attentive service. The food here is decent. Their devil's char siu and BBQ duck noodle is definitely worth a try and coming back for. Roast pork belly have a soft crunchy skin but I find the taste a little lacking. I'm more accustomed to roast pork. The soy chicken is decent. They are very generous on the rice portions. The daily soup was a little salty. Will come back to try their other combos and food.
Today is just a soft opening, everyone is busy but the service is still the best. I order the BBQ mixed combo, the BBQ pork is lean but tender, the roasted pork is crispy and tasty, the duck skin is crispy too, I like it. The daily soup is delicious, easy on salt, good for health. Even the order is waiting for long, but it’s okay for their soft opening, I enjoy it. Will come back within few weeks to try again, highly recommend.
A clean, new restaurant serving Chinese BBQ meats. The char siu was very lean but glazed well. Food was pretty standard.Food: 4/5
New restaurant! Comfortable seating, nice decoration and good service. Tall young waiter tonight was very nice. No waiting for table and food was served very quickly BBQ pork belly had no flavour but we love it’s crunchy skin! Other dishes we had were not impressive. Probably because the restaurant was new. I am sure it will improve over time. We were a bit disappointed to find that there were no BBQ on rice combo for dinner time $49 BBQ combination for two was enough to feed two. Not 3
It soft opening...So I understand the service is really mess up....Food amount is decent..But I'll suggests have peoples come in and taste and give some options to improve...Other than that...It's new, its understandable....I suggest you guys wait for a little bit longer before coming to try...Food: 3/5
