There is SO much to see here! We spent about 5 hours exploring and still felt like we could have easily stayed longer. We happened to visit on a day with a special outdoor event, which was such a nice surprise and added to the experience.nnThe exhibits are fascinating and full of history and artifacts. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have staff inside the museum to share information, context, and first-hand knowledge about the displays. At other similar museums we’ve visited, having that interaction has really enriched the visit. That being said, the security guard outside was incredibly knowledgeable, and it was so interesting speaking with him about his experiences and insights. He knew things that even the people running the outdoor event didn’t know.nnThe pricing for a family is very fair, and overall this is an amazing place for anyone interested in history. Highly recommend setting aside a good chunk of your day, there’s truly so much to take in.
This military museum is surprisingly large. We spent about 2.5 hours at this museum and had a great time. It is unique in that most military museums are arranged by specific wars, but this one is arranged to follow specific regiments or battalions. It would take 4 hours or more to read all the history on the panels that span several large rooms. Also unique to this museum is the mannequins that are a part of the war replicas, each posing to fit the scene. Looking at other reviews, I expected to see only about 15 of these scenes but there are closer to 75 I would say. Definitely worth the time.
My boyfriend is into engineering feats such as planes and jets, and he was very excited and delighted to visit here we are from out of town. I am not much of a military or history buff but the amount of visual artifacts and pieces of Canadian military history displayed and laid out in exhibits here was fascinating for even me to read about and consider. There were some full size planes in the hangar and veterans who had flown them were volunteering their time on the Saturday that we were here. That was very impressive for me.nnDefinitely worth visiting even if you have only a marginal interest in such things. You could spend hours here as there is a great density of information and it is displayed in really accessible ways
There are multiple museums in one area. Reasonably priced, and there's so much to look at. If you're a history buff, you'll love it..if you like military vehicles/planes, you'll have plenty to see. There's even a small little cabin with a secret door and a replica of the great escape. Quite impressive. Kept my 9 yr old interested, who gets bored very quickly.
This was absolutely amazing. There were retired army veterans working there, volunteering. The exhibits were detailed and there was so much information. One of the volunteers, Reg, took us on a tour spontaneously and it was absolutely amazing. How humble he was, how informative he was and how funny and pleasant he was made this one of our best memories on our road trip to Calgary from Vancouver. The stories he told were amazing and I felt like I could have stayed there for 6 hours and not be bored. It was also huge, we were there 2 hours and only went through one section of it.
