Air Force Museum of Alberta

About

The vision of The Air Force Museum Society of Alberta is to preserve the rich history and traditions of the men and women who have and continue to serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Story

Air Force Museum Of Alberta

Opened in 2009, the Air Force Museum of Alberta (AFMA) is the newest addition to The Military Museums. Website rcaf.museum
The AFMA chronicles the story of Canada’s Air Force through artifacts, models, interactive displays, and unique films. Although the Royal Canadian Air Force was not founded until 1 April 1924, the AFMA begins with the 15th century flying machine of Leonardo da Vinci and ends with the modern role of the Royal Canadian Air Force, covering the magnificent legacy of Canada’s war-time contributions in between.

This was a fantastic exhibit! Everything was very well laid out, and the displays were more than convincing. Walking through the cold war nuclear strike bunker entrance display was just like putting on a VR headset. The F-18 that was on display was awesome! My son and I spent 3.5 hours between all the different museums.
Great place to feel and touch some real fighters. These war relics were well maintained and no rust or crack on skin except that cf-100 Canuck sitting outside. They also have many fancy miniature donations. Just wondering why there isn't a cf-5 freedom fighter which portrayed a generation's collective memory with the movie Top Gun.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The Calgary Military Museums is an excellent destination for anyone interested in history and military artifacts. My wife and daughter, as well as myself, were thoroughly impressed with the exhibits and the level of detail in the displays. The Cold War exhibit was particularly noteworthy, and the gentleman working there was very informative and knowledgeable. Overall, we had a great time at the museum and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Calgary.
Amazing museum to look at planes and see Canadian history in general. Great place for the family and great service. Not busy and lots of staff ready to help you and tell you things. The only thing is that there is no restaurants nearby but other than that a great museum! Also very cleanVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

This museum offers a lot and is really well organized and presented. Highly recommend as something to do in the city on a rainy or snowy day.
