We stayed at the Great George for 3 nights over a long weekend for a Remembrance Day Service. The location was perfect for walking anywhere in Charlottetown. The staff were extremely friendly, professional and always very accommodating. The lobby was our go to place when we were taking a break, or if we were hunkered down for the evening. Overstuffed leather chairs and sofa's next to a fireplace with coffee, tea and ice water at our fingertips was perfect for our weary bones. This is where they also served the complimentary breakfast, which was excellent. My particular favorite was a blueberry/oatmeal/yogurt delight served in a small mason jar, simply delicious. We would definitely stay at the Great George again, and I highly recommend anyone thinking of a trip to Charlottetown give yourself a treat and stay at the Great George, you will not be disappointed.
Super nice and friendly staff!nThey were always professional and very helpful-fantastic customer service! Especially Torriano and his colleague, who had helped me with some room issues. Couldn’t be better!nThe hotel has a very personal charm character, everything is nicely decorated and so cozy.nLocation is great-downtown Charlottetown. Short walking distances to all cafés and shops. Beautiful area.nThe rooms are also very nice and individual but they definitely need an update.nI‘d come back anytime and can recommend this hotel especially for their nice way of treating guests. Thank you again!
This was a wonderful hotel. The morning breakfast, cookie hour, and happy hour were we all incredible. The free coffee, tea, and water available at all times in the lobby was great. I’m not sure the criticism of the breakfast, it was great. There’s no traditional dining room but plenty of space in the lobby to enjoy.nnThe location was prime just a couple of blocks from Confederation Landing, and just a couple of blocks from the main downtown strip.nnOne small constructive criticism I would give is the hotel should be a lot more clear as to which rooms have washers and dryers in them. my room did and it was working well. The hotel provided enough detergent for one load per day for free. The Criticism is, I would have packed a lot less if I knew there was a washing machine and dryer in the room. For those traveling internationally, this is critical information.
This is the second time staying here with the first time being about 12 years ago. The location is excellent as are all the staff. The added benefit of the continental breakfast and the evening cocktails, although we didn’t take advantage of the latter, makes for a very pleasant stay.nnThere are a few small items though that could make an 8 out of 10 place a 10 out of 10. The rooms are comfortable we had a one-bedroom suite but they are starting to show their age. The carpets could use a deep cleaning as could the shower tiles. The televisions are old with no ability to plug in technology or cast video from your own electronics, which is now a common feature in most modern hotels. There is a clearly dated welcoming document in the room with instructions to “dial 0 on your in-room phone at any time”. Problem is, like most hotels today, there isn’t an in-room phone. They have a mostly helpful tv remote guide, but the channel listing doesn’t fully match up to the actual channels available. The last item, which I suspect would be an expensive fix, is the air conditioner. It keeps the place comfortably cool but when it runs, it sounds like a plane taking off.nnNotwithstanding the small items above, I would consider staying here again.
WOW!!! This was wonderful! While some of the rooms were actually in the hotel, many of them were housed in nearby homes. Fresh cookies, coffee and tea are available at all times, and a complimentary glass of wine was offered between 5-6 pm. Sam, at the front desk was the BEST! He arranged reservations at a great seafood restaurant and helped us to find our rooms! DONT pay any attention to the negative comments about the breakfast! They offered an egg option w potatoes, fresh fruit, juice, yogurt, overnight oats, pastries, toast, bagels and muffins. On the weekend we had sausage and ham. They also had a gluten-free menu. OUTSTANDING!
