The Boathouse Restaurant

We did not have a great experience and it started as soon as we walked in through the door. The hostess did not greet us with a hi or a smile. She automatically asked “for 3?”. We were a group of 8, she took us upstairs, did not wait for us to be seated. Made us wait and dropped the menus on our plates instead of letting us sit and handing it to us like majority of restaurants and then she just walked away. We let our server know, but he did not take it into consideration and just said okay. The whole dinner was alright. The service was a bit slow because he was the only one, but there were a few tables. When the food was served, the manager came and gave us our food but again, no smile or anything which is odd for such a well-known restaurant. When the bills arrived there was an error on my bill, and the server went ahead to rectify it for me. When he came back, he accidentally brought me the wrong bill again (it was someone else’s bill), and I let him know but I hesitated in case I didn’t understand the process. He then realized the bills weren’t adding up. So they took 30 min to try and figure it out and a lot of back and forth and explaining and they ended up still making a mistake. There was no apology from the manager like any other regular restaurant would do, nothing to accommodate with all of the issues. Which was very disappointing. I understand people make mistakes, but the mistake was made several times and I just Had to keep paying rather than being accommodated for the mistake they made. Which the server mentioned was his managers mistake since she printed off the bill. I just hope their customer service is worked on and improved.

This is a nice seafood restaurant next to English Bay Beach. The menu has what you would expect, plus great small plates. We were not rushed by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The beer was tasty.as well!

Coconut Cod, yup no coconut for sure i had to ask for some sauce just to finish it, some of the other guest as well did not like what they had ordered. Will never take anyone again to this place for sure. But our Server was very pleasant that was a 5*

Don't forget to ask for bread. But a spectacular view. Been many times to Boathouse locations and my wife used to work at one. The server was kind but poorly trained. Little knowledge and poor etiquette. The $10 addition for a soup or salad and dessert isn't worthwhile in my opinion. The chowder wasn't near the quality of Boathouse past and the portion was tiny. Other servers seemed good. Perhaps ours was new and not reflective of the restaurant. Oh. Bread is upon request. Odd. Seriously odd. The seafood ravioli my wife had was really tasty and a good portion. I had a steak with prawns. Steak was good. Taste all around was decent, but other than steak everything was not hot. And no steak knife until I grabbed another server. I asked for a manager. Mentioned the shortcomings. He covered the meal and had it replaced as well which was classy. The view at sunset is spectacular. Vancouver has many amazing spots to eat. Tonight on a few points was a miss. The manager had the meal remedied quickly and took it off the bill.

Just terrible. Ordered medium rare steak and got it completely raw. They took it back resalted it added more steak spice. When I got it back it was over done and so salty. It was disgusting. Didn't feel like dealing with it again. Waiter didn't even apologize.
