We had a fantastic celebratory dinner here. We got patio seats, which made for an amazing view.nnOne of their most popular dishes, baked salmon, was the best salmon we ever had. The halibut special was also incredibly delicious. Given the quality and execution of the dishes, the prices were extremely fair.nnThe service from Dawna was terrific, friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The complimentary dessert was a nice touch and appreciated.
We booked this restaurant to celebrate my son's birthday. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere with a cozy vibe that you feel the moment you walk in. We were initially seated at a table that didn’t fully suit our family with booth seating only on one side, but when we mentioned it to Nathalie, she promptly moved us to a full booth. It turns out she’s the manager, but she still took the time to check on us personally during dinner. Our waiter, Shawn, was exceptionally friendly and pleasant. The food was excellent—our steaks, salmon, and oysters were cooked perfectly—and the drinks, especially the spicy mango margarita, were equally impressive.
We went here on the recommendation of a local bartender while visiting Vancouver. Boy, was it a great one!nCardero’s only takes a limited number of reservations and mainly focuses on taking walk-ins, so the wait is a bit unpredictable. But, we put our name on the list and went to the bar for a drink. This was probably the low point of our visit as we were in a weird corner and forgotten by the bartender.nLuckily, after one could have been two drink, we got seated on the deck overlooking Coal Harbor Yacht Club. It was really beautiful. Our waiter asked us about our time availability and we had no other plans so we agreed to pace the meal accordingly.nStarted with some East Coast oysters with delicious cocktail or mignonette sauces. Then we split a delicious Caesar salad with homemade dressing and crispy fried capers. Finally, we got our mains, miso marinated Sable fish, which was flaky and succulent and grilled Sockeye Salmon cooked to perfection. Some of the best seafood we had on our trip.nOur service was on point and we enjoyed our entire experience at Cardero’s. We’ll definitely be back when we next visit Vancouver.
Located on the pier on Coal Harbour Quay, this restaurant has the makings of a great experience.nnOur server Ashley was really attentive and kept the drinks flowing. The wait for food is a wee bit long. Cocktails are excellent. We may have hit the restaurant on an off day. The table of 4 people beside us ordered and after some time waiting for their food and drinks, walked out a wee bit upset. We all have off days and it perhaps was this for the kitchen.nnWhat we enjoyed - Prawn Sizzle and Roasted Sable Fish. The Signature Wok Squid Salt and Pepper Squid is done well. Bravo.nnThe Caesar Salad was served as whole leaves. Not particularly something I enjoyed eating or doing. We also had Linguine Volgole and a pound of Mussels. It may just have been an off night because these tasted bland - needed a wee bit more salt.nnWish to reiterate, the Server was excellent and attentive given the delays with food. Restaurant is quite busy. Not particularly family friendly. Tight tables and not much room to walk around for either guests or servers.
I have been dining at this restaurant several times- the dining experience , qualify of dishes, and service are highly-recommended. Both sandbar and Cardero are sister restaurants under the same ownership and I found both restaurant menus offer guests a variety of choice. Both restaurants have been on my top to go list whether in a summer time, fall, or just a dinner date on weekend. Not to mention I feel that the price on the menu is still consider reasonable compare to toptable group I enjoy the latter as well.
