All the dishes were absolutely delicious, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We ordered a variety of items, each beautifully presented and full of flavor. The hot stone Japanese beef was a highlight—tender and fun to cook at the table—though understandably not quite as rich as what we’ve had in Japan. Still, it was very enjoyable. The service was attentive and friendly, and the ambiance added to the experience with its clean, modern aesthetic and relaxed vibe. Every bite felt thoughtfully prepared, and we left fully satisfied. A place we’d gladly return to!
After seeing their Bento sets on Google, we decided to give Kingyo Izakaya a try. We made a reservation in advance and were seated immediately upon arrival; no wait time.nnThe place is energetic with a touch of traditional charm. The staff were all friendly, from the hosts to the chefs behind the counter making us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish.nnFoodnUnfortunately, we missed out on the famous Bento Set sold out by 2PM, but everything else we ordered was pretty nice:nnAppetizer:nTako Wasabi & Seaweed Wrap – fresh with ground wasabi zinging your brain hahanTomato Kimchi - this was so refreshing!! We made a second order for thisnnMain:nHokkai Bowl – Fresh and good portion.nEel Bowl - Tasty and good portion.nnDessert:nFrozen Matcha Crème Brûlée – The absolute highlight. Cold, rich, creamy, and not overly sweet. If we weren’t full, we honestly would have ordered another.nnWould love to check out the Bento set next time.
This is one of the best places we tried in Vancouver! The staff are super kind and friendly! We wanted a dish from the dinner menu for which we came back and although they don’t have it for lunch, the chef kindly made it for us and it was AMAZING!!! The truffle braised wagyu beef is next level tasty! Highly recommended! Everything we had was top notch, high quality and delicious!
I had the chance to enjoy a wide variety of Japanese dishes some with a subtle fusion twist while dining with a group of friends. Everything we tried was excellent, both in taste and presentation! I wish I had taken more photos, but honestly, I was too caught up savoring the experience
Dining at Kingyo is always a fun and tasty experience. The food is consistently excellent.nnThe sashimi was incredibly fresh, and the ebi mayo had the perfect texture. The tomato kimchi was an unexpected combination, but honestly really good.nnNegitoro sushi is my favorite dish that I never skip. Simple, rich, and always satisfying. Highly recommended.nnThe restaurant is always busy and full of energy, so making a reservation would be a good idea.nnKingyo is the best option for anyone looking for authentic Japanese food with great service in Vancouver.
