My favourite place in Halifax. Great food and wine selection. Desserts are great. Location on the docks is spectacular. Great patio in the summer. Very busy so reservations are recommended. Had some great experiences with bartenders making amazing cocktails. Last time there I wasn't so keen on bartenders - seemed like they were new or maybe an off night. Other times were spot on.

First I'll start by saying I've been here a handful of times and the food has yet to disappoint but I have had a couple bad "atmosphere" and service visits, the last of which prompted me enough to write a review. My Fiancee and I booked a reservation a few weeks in advance for Valentines day as we have always enjoyed the food here. We arrived about 5 minutes early to our 8:15 pm reservation to a packed entrance. We were greeted a few moments later and were told that our table would be ready in a few moments. So we waited, and waited and then we waited some more. We waited for about an hour before we were seated along with an entire entrance full of strangers. once we sat down we were both pretty disappointed with our evening and chatted about the wait and how we heard others state their reservation times later then ours but were somehow seated before us, at this point it became clear the reservation didn't mean much. 

We ordered got our food quick, the waitress pulled our appetizer from our table as I was still chewing a piece and didn't think to ask if we were done, I had to order my second drink twice and by the time it arrived I was done with dinner and didn't want it anymore. The main course was tasty, I had the risotto on special and my fiancee had the seafood linguine. 

In the end we still left angry and neither are eager to go back. It was a restaurant I recommend to family members and visiting friends before, but am less likely to do so now. Just not happy how we were treated.

Loved it. Great service. Great food. Went for beef rib - sold out - not cool at all.  Next time I'll make that part of my reservation. Would recommend.

The best meal I have eaten in Halifax hands down. I ordered the beef rare and it was perfect. The service was outstanding, I'm only giving 4 stars because although we had a reservation we still waited an hour to be seated. (Was worth the wait) P.S. don't go here if you aren't looking to spend a lot of money.

Our first time at The Bicycle Thief. Attended for our anniversary dinner. We ordered Jumbo Shrimp appetizer. Short Ribs and Filet Mignon main courses. Chocolate Cake Hazelnut Gelati and coffee.  Atmosphere was pleasant. Service was excellent. The appetizer and dessert were better then the main courses. Would try again for pasta dishes. Final bill was pricey $117.00 plus tip and paid parking.  Overall a nice night out in Halifax together that doesn't happen often.
