My words are not good enough to describe how good the food are. It is a small store but they have everything you need. If you like the quality and reasonable price sashimi & sushi, they are the best choice.
Great place to come get your fresh sushi grade fish. You can also request the staff to have it sliced for you or bring it home to do yourself.
Best sashimi you can find in Markham period. You go pick the things you like and they cut it up for you. Nice and clean!
Everything is very fresh! Price is reasonable, staff are friendly and helpful. Love their Futomaki so much!

Fresh good quality food and popular place for sushi takeaway : Go early to avoid long waits.Food: 5/5
The rolls and platters are overpriced, but if you buy the sashimi it is very fresh unlike any I have ever tasted. You will definitely not this at any sushi restaurant I’ve been to. Some are close but not this close. Just buy the sashimi and cut it at home, tastes so good.
Update Nov 2020 After previous poor experience, I don't plan to try this place again, but one of my family member insisted to try she had never tried Taro fish before but have heard good things from her friends so we spend $100+ on a sushi platter that leaves me with more poor experience..... The rice is soggy, and the seaweed is super soggy too. Charged premium price but just so-so quality on the fish and close to zero effort in presentation, i can only draw a conclusion that this place is overpriced. I'll take my money to other places such as IKON sushi and Ai sushi that offers better value. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- People have been raving about Taro fish. I gave this place a try after hearing so many good things but disappointed to find that their fish is very overpriced. Let’s talk about the positive first. The service is friendly and the store is bright and clean. I think the turnover is pretty good not sure why many people will still come to buy this overpriced sashimi/ sushi. I came on a weekday around 12:30pm and there are constantly 4 people lining up to pay. Things I dislike 1 overpriced 2 the rice is soggy The fish quality is similar to Ai sushi, but Ai pricing is more acceptable. For example, Taro’s Fish spicy deluxe roll 4pcs is $10, Ai roll 4pcs is $6. Yea the Ai roll doesn’t have hamachi but honestly with all the fish chopped up to small pieces, you don’t really taste the difference.
The owner at Markham location does not have sense of respect to customer. He seems always in an offensive mood as if customer's inquiry is out of norm. Or make a joke of not knowing details from the menu. Watch out on Saturday lunch time. He will ask if one would need a soy sauce, then customer checks out the bag soy sauce is not in the bag. When ask for soy sauce or chopstick, he blatantly points to soy sauce or chopstick and says "help yourself". Japanese restaurant owner without respect is something i never heard from. If you do not want to have respect, do not serve customer at the counter and have a manner to hire cashier. Degrading, offensive, owner to watch out for.
Came by last week. Will come again if in the area. Used to frequent the sheppard location many years ago. Really love the design/layout of this location. Super friendly staff. Good sushi. Grabbed some for my mom and myself had umeshiso pickled plum & shiso leaf w cucumber very delicious. I hope many people come and frequent this hidden gem.
