Baben Sushi

We decided to try this sushi place on a whim, and it was not bad! The rolls were well-made and nicely presented, and there was a good variety of rolls and sashimi in the sets. There was also a decent selection of rolls suited for our kids. Pricing was fair; it's not the cheapest around, but also not too expensive and reflects the quality you get. While Baben Sushi is not the best we've ever had, I'd definitely consider it to be a good option to keep in our rotation of sushi joints to frequent i.e., it's better than the average value places, but not as crazy pricey as the really good places. I'd recommend calling ahead. My husband called to order before going, but still had to wait a little for the food to be made once he got there it's a small place, so understandable.

Literally occupying the same space as Mocci bakery, so don't be fooled from the store front. Baben Sushi is almost like a one-man show. Owner takes orders, makes the sushi, and runs the shop. This place is takeout only. We ordered the 40 piece sushi set and a rainbow roll. Quality of the sushi and ingredients are pretty good. The variety you get is different and it's good value for the price you pay. From the sushi set, my favourites were the scallop, sweet shrimp, unagi, tamago, and squid. I was surprised by the softness of the squid, the light sweetness of tamago, firmness of the crabmeat, and thumbs up on many of the fishes too. The rainbow roll was not bad. It tasted fresh in my mouth but perhaps I enjoyed a more saucy roll. Tip: If you know Chinese/Mandarin, best to speak and order using that with the owner as he's less fluent in English. You might need to repeat yourself. It's great value, definitely will order again! Their takeout boxes are really well made and secure.

Overall, Very good and fresh foods! We tried only one party tray and some Maki. The chef can tailor make some rolls for kids. Very friendly service and some toppings are so unique from others. One reminder, make sure you order earlier if you are picking up at popular meal time.

Prepare for a long wait even after ordering ahead. I ordered online at noon and showed up on time. They told me they havent prepare a single piece for my order yet and told me to wait for few minutes. After waiting for over 20 minutes, they still told me that they still have one more roll to finish up. This is such waste of time in waiting for an order that placed ahead. Strongly not recommend.

New little sushi for takeout located in the plaza at the corner of Denison & Esna Park. They also double as a bakery and offer cakes. The platter we got was fresh and neatly presented. Run by a nice couple. Price is extremely reasonable.

fresh sashimi with variety of options. very friendly service, I can opt out the part that I don't like in a combo and replace with anything available. Kid-friendliness: would accommodate and replace items with kids friendly items, like fake crab, cucumber, egg, avocado, etc.

Fresh and good quality fish. Very accommodating and friendly owners. Highly recommended.
