Affordable and freshly-made takoyaki. It makes for a great snack while wandering Kensington market. The owner is so sweet as well, she makes this eatery a must visit!Food: 5/5
Honestly the best Takoyaki I’ve ever had! Affordable, freshly made and delicious. The music being played from the shop is also 10/10 and the owner is very friendly and great vibes - a must visit if you’re in the area!Food: 5/5
Holy Molly. That chicken bao was transcendental. I had it 4 hours ago, but my mouth is still watering by thinking about it. Takoyaki has always had a very special place in my heart since I was a kid. I still remember that there was a food stand near my elementary school, and I always went there to get precisely 6ix heh takoyaki balls in the afternoon as a treat. Seeing the dancing bonito flakes, the smell of the crispy/soft batter of the balls cooked to perfection, mixing with kewpie mayo and the takoyaki dressing and the burning sensation when I ate them defined a significant portion of my childhood. As a result, I have a ~very high standard~ for takoyak; most of the takoyaki I've tried in North America e.g. ramen restaurants, and Korean fusion restaurants are disappointments to me, which I would rarely order. I came to Takoyaki6ix once last year, and I gave it a four-star rating. Overall, I think the takoyaki made here is exquisite and definitely a lot better than many other places. I think it lost one star for me because the price was a bit more on the expensive end 15 dollars for 10 if I remember correctly. I got this insatiable craving for takoyaki ball today so I returned. Upon returning, I saw their new menu items Curry katsu rice bowl & wafu Chicken bao. I felt pretty adventurous so I gave the wafu chicken bao a try. Let me tell ya, that was probably the best decision I made this whole week for my life . Freshly made bao bun, Golden fried chicken katsu, with Japanese egg salad ah it's so good. I freaking love Japanese egg salad, fresh cabbage and the tangy katsu dressing - this thing tastes like absolute heaven. I had some exchanges with the owner, Kaori and the staff, Mari, and they were super lovely too. The price to portion for the chicken bao is great too! Although it may be considered a “snack” to most, the katsu is pretty big by itself. With that heavenly taste at the cost of 8 dollars? Take my money. In addition, I really appreciate how organized and clean the restaurant is when it comes to properly storing the ingredients, including the raw chicken, and the seafood octopus, shrimp balls etc. It's always a massive green flag for me. All and all, just come and try the chicken bao already.
Delicious and affordable snack in Kensington. Super friendly and generous service. Takoyaki was fresh and flavourful.Food: 5/5
We tried everything on the menu and were not disappointed. We went in the afternoon, so there wasn’t a line. Food was freshly made upon order and was all hot and delicious. Upon recommendation from the owner, we ordered the takoyaki with regular mayo and the shrimp balls with the spicy mayo. Both were super flavourful, with lots of bonito flakes on top! Both baos had a generous amount of meat in them. The katsu was thick and crispy and the brisket was deliciously cooked. Can’t wait to come back!
Cute hole in the wall, small batches. Their takoyaki is good but I wouldn't say amazing. A bit on the soggier side, ours was also reheated rather than made fresh, so some were not heated all the way through. The octopus was a bit overcooked, and quite a small piece inside. The sauce and katsuobushi were standard, loved the seaweed flake seasoning.
Heard quite a bit about this place, so had to try. Their Takoyaki was very good with good chunks inside. The sauce the put on top really enhanced the taste. Also tried the Wafu Chicken Katsu Bao. This was also super nice. Well seasoned and crispy chicken toped with a very flavourful sauce, creamy slaw, and egg, all in a super soft bread. Highly recommended. We were greeted very nicely and they handed us the food while we waited outside. There's only seating for like 4 people outside, so it's best for grab and go. P.S. Ate so fast didn't get pictures.
Are you looking for freshly made takoyaki in toronto? THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU The classic takoyaki is made fresh daily by a kind lady. Super nice and friendly oh and be patient, the store is super small, so the line up may get a little crazy. Since it is freshly made, its so much for softer than the ones i eat at restaurants which are usually frozen takoyaki deep fried. Check out my tiktok for some video action @spiritedlaway or my IG @eatwithclaw for more food content
Best Takoyaki in Toronto! The tiny little space believe it or not has the best tasting Takoyaki and they have also recently added beef brisket Bao - which is to die for! Very great flavours. Glad they got a spot in Kensington after seeing them grind it out in front of Rasta Pasta!
I know this is a takoyaki place but the MUST HAVE is the Wafu Chicken Katsu Bao. These are made to order and more than worth the wait time of about ~5 minutes. The chicken is fried to perfection and comes out crispy and juicy. That is stuffed into a fluffy bao and topped with a cool and creamy coleslaw. The balance of flavours is and overall just tastes amazing!
