Fantastic mix of rice balls. Had the daily special and spicy pork. Both were great. As a first time customer it took me two tries to get the unwrapping done right.Food: 5/5
This place is run by the nicest Japanese lady owner! Although service is slow and the lines form very quickly, you can taste the sincerity that went into making the food. The oden is the most authentic oden I've had in Toronto and it brought me right back to Japan. It's simple, but the broth is full of umami and the ingredients are high quality - certainly not the pre-frozen ingredients you'd get elsewhere! The omusubi bento box is spectacular! 16 rice balls with generous filling and full of yummy goodness. It's healthy and so, so filling! I also wasn't expecting the nice gift wrap it came in and that made it all the more special. The best part about this place is how there's a featured omusubi of the month and other seasonal specials, including weekly rotating soups. This keeps things fresh and I'll definitely be back every month!
MUST TRY. The woman working inside is very friendly and the food came out hot!! We got the Salmon Wasabi and the Miso Pork my favorite and it was $3.50 for each. There's tables out front so you can enjoy your meal while listening to the awesome music she has playing!
Authentic Japanese rice ball that is freshly made to order. The rice is perfectly cooked, and the amount of filling it decent. I wouldn’t say it blows you away it is a rice ball after all but for $3.5, it is a perfect snack to grab and go. There are also many other menu items look forward to trying at some point.
Round 1: The lady was very friendly gave me a free green tea, thx! and everything was made by order. I tried the miso eggplant don and the oyako don. Both orders have the rice cooked perfectly. The chicken flavour of the oyako don was also rich. For me, the only down side is that the dishes were a bit too salty which made the cup of green tea even more rewarding. Round 2: I tried the anchovy omusubi and the ume shiso omusubi today. Again the latter was a bit too salty for me. But the anchovy one shirasu & shiso with tempura bits was perfect. For anyone who never had omusubi before, please remember it is a compressed rice ball and can be quite fulfilling.
These omusubi are so delicious, rich with flavour and are so fulfilling. The seasonal rolls are worth a taste! There are a lot of vegetarian options if needed, but seriously such a nourishing snack/meal! Took a photo of a yuzu taro & chicken teriyaki omusubi!
Visited while in the area to try their rice balls omusubi. They offer a mix of rice balls all freshly made and can be wrapped to go. They also have hot meal entrées as well with donburis. The salmon wasabi rice ball was decent and had a good amount of salmon topping. Recommended as a quick stop to pick up some Japanese street food and snacks. They also have some in house sauces available for purchase.
Wouldn’t mind going again to try different things on the menu due to all the high ratings. I ordered 3 different types of rice balls. Definitely not as good as I expected though. It’s a bit better than rice balls at TNT Supermarket
Every omusubi is made fresh upon order with unique and yummy flavour. Soup is also wonderful accompaniment and oden is very hearty and well-seasoned. Dango is definitely to die for.
These riceballs have become my comfort food ever since I discovered them. The woman working here makes each riceball with care. When eating them you feel as if you are at the comfort of your house with a lot of family around.
