T&T Supermarket

Now part of the Loblaws Chain as they bought this always interesting oriental supermarket about two years back. Service seems improved along with renovations that have been done to the bakery area and butcher shop. The fish shop features both live and butchered fish and is much improved from the past. The fruit and veg section is clean and offers a wide array of regular and exotic fruits. They also have a ready to eat section of hot food and a sushi section. All in all an interesting and fun place to shop and to take in some local colour!

I love all the unusual products at this Market. Different types of produce, different cuts of meat, unusual live fresh seafood, ready-made sushi. Also fresh baked goods like pork buns or buns with a hot dog in it. Great selection of self serve hot foods and also pre-wrapped hot foods and cold foods as well. Friendly cashiers, lots of shopping carts and easy access from the underground parking. Always a fun time and always something new to discover in this store.

Staff are moderately friendly. My biggest concerns about shopping here is the hygiene and food handling at the fish and meat departments. I see touching the outside of bags with meaty hands alot. Occasionally even particles of meat. They don't seem to close up the bags up very well either. I don't like shopping here, it always feels overcrowded and the layout isn't very friendly if you don't know where everything is, but I can see it's appeal and why people shop there. Better quality produce than somewhere like Safeway. Pricing is fair for most items.

Mixed review - selection seems okay for the location near downtown. Staff seemed accomodating for take out orders. However, compared to other T&T locations, there are better sushi bars and Chinese take out than this supermarket IMO. Would come here for convenience of store hours but find better alternatives in nearby Chinatown.

The best place to go to get Asian cooking ingredients. Unfortunately I don't live close but if I'm in the area I'll make sure to visit the bakery and precooked food. Produce is very fresh and cheap too. I also love how impressively fast the checkout cashiers move.
