Lovely experience from check in to check out. We checked in early and our room was ready for us, and also had been upgraded. The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. We ate at the restaurant twice, the food and service were great. The location on English bay beach is very convenient, and it was interesting to learn about the building’s history. The room was a little chilly in late November, but it is an old building and is to be expected. Will definitely stay here again!
Best place by far in the city to celebrate my childhood bestie’s 65th birthday lunch. Hostess Miriam worked her magic to accommodate my early arrival in the lounge traffic was surprisingly light and I truly appreciated her professionalism checking with her colleagues first and her eagerness to set the tone for a wonderful special occasion setting up my two flower arrangements on our table and window sill.nnOur server was Adello, and my gosh he made us feel like royalty, with double dashes of warmth and personal attention. Adello’s genuine love of being customer focused was top notch, and he has a great sense of humour!nnThe Sylvia Hotel offers nostalgic charm, an extensive menu for all taste buds, and staff that go way above and beyond in ensuring their guests feel appreciated. Thank you so much for surpassing our expectations. The Sylvia Hotel will always be dear to our hearts.
Review is for the lounge. Food is good - not quite outstanding. Live music evenings is a c classy touch. Love the charm of this spot and hope it stays for years. Iconic part of the west end / Eng bay
We had a great time at the Sylvia. I would love to rate it a 5 however a couple of things keep me from doing so. But first… the check in was great and the people at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel location is second to none and access to the beach area is phenomenal as it is literally across the street in the heart of English Bay. The restaurant is great serving excellent food. The hotel is very pet friendly and they really mean that as there was no issues with having a large dog occupying the hotel. The room was big and easy to get around. The downside is there isn’t air conditioning and since we were there during a hot spell the room was very hot and uncomfortable, especially for our pet, and opening the windows and running the fan that was provided only helped moderately. The other issue was the second elevator was down and appeared to be for a while. Longer waits for a single small elevator proved to be inconvenient at times. Overall outside of these important points and if you can overlook them I would still recommend this hotel.
Today I met Lauren from the Hotel Sylvia Restaurant. What a great asset to this wonderful hotel! Just a delightful person and a great representative of the business. Thank you Lauren for your clarification of my coffee issue and I'm glad it's always available to customers! Also I want to recognize the lovely server whose first day it was and who was so very nice to me...thank you...another great asset to the Hotel Sylvia!
