Sunset Family Restaurant

This was our first time visiting this restaurant though we’d driven past it many times. The morning after Christmas was definitely packed but oddly we didn’t wait more than 15 minutes to be seated! It was obvious the staff were trying to keep up with the influx of people but we understood that it was just due to the day after a holiday, everyone wants breakfast, etc. they did great given the circumstances. I got the Mediterranean skillet which was delicious and it came with the sauce for the gyro meat. I thought it was pretty good. My husband got the meat lovers skillet…he’s kind of picky so this wasn’t his favorite version of that skillet. But he still ate it and said if we came back he’d just try something else bc they have lots of breakfast options that look good. Overall I thought this was a good family restaurant. It was clean, staff was friendly and attentive, and I really liked my food.

If you're a breakfast lover in Waukesha, you have to check out Sunset Family Restaurant. This place has some delicious egg benedicts, and their biscuits and sausage gravy are my go-to favorites. The portions are huge and very affordable, so you definitely won't leave hungry. But what really makes this place special is the owners and staff - they're always so friendly and welcoming, and they make you feel like part of the family. It's a great feeling to be greeted with a smile and treated so well. All in all, I can't recommend Sunset Family Restaurant enough. It's the perfect spot for a hearty, delicious breakfast that won't break the bank, with some of the friendliest folks around. Diner food and experience at its best! We both had the sausage and biscuit breakfast $9.95 which comes with 2 eggs any style, hash browns, an open face biscuit with tasty sausage gravy plus your choice of bacon or sausage. I chose scrambled and bacon. The bacon is thick and perfectly cooked. Eggs were perfect, too my partner had sunny side up which are sometimes not great at a restaurant. The hash browns are the shredded variety and were fine but not overly crispy or browned. The biscuit was fresh and delicious. The gravy was good and had plenty of sausage crumbles in it. The food was prepared quickly and served with attention to detail. It wasn’t busy because it was mid morning around 10am when we were there but it seemed like the kitchen and wait staff knew their jobs and did them well and could handle a rush. The website says the place is open from 6 am until 3 pm. Not sure if that is due to Covid or their regular schedule.

The food was amazing. Great portions and good quality. I think the waitress forgot about us a few times. But beyond that there was a pretty good experience.Food: 5/5

I have tried to like this place. I’ve had many of their meals; each one worse than the last. Their omelettes are overcooked every time and disgusting. Their hash browns are over cooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Their rolls they serve with soup are gross, not fresh. Everything could be SO much better but the food seems rushed and bland. There’s too many items on the menu, how can they do that and still keep things fresh? They can’t. If you have no tastebuds you’ll love Sunset Family Restaurant.

Turkey, stuffing,mashed potatoes were not homemade. Gross looking yellow/orange gravy. No cranberry offered. Clam chowder soup very thin. Waitress was very friendly. The man who seated me and the lady who took my money acted like I was inconveniencing them. Used to love this place....I won't be back.Food: 2/5

It was terrible. Each time I and my wife. Went there. Numerous times. The staff were very rude. And demanded tips. I will never go there again. Nor will my wife. I would not recommend anyone to eat there again there pancakes are disgusting also

I always enjoy the generous sized hot corned beef sandwich on rye bread with a side of fries! I usually have leftovers, too! Their freshly made buns are light and fluffy, too!

Great Greek restaurant. Pork chops and eggs fantastic! Fish fry excellent - includes Northern Pike option. Nice people.

The food was good, It came out quick but as soon as we got our entrees Denise, seemed to ignore our table till we got the bill 25 minutes after we finished eating. Prolonged our night more than it needed to be, I expected quicker service but still left a good tip.
