Starbucks

Holy, this store stands out. I’m visiting from Alberta and had some time to kill so decided to come in. Everyone greets you when you walk in the door. The staff are all great energy, enthusiastic, and so positive. Eye contact, big smiles and calling you by name. They came around with samples and were just so lovely. This is how Starbucks used to to feel, I’ve missed it!

This one star review is strictly for the predatory behaviour of asking tips from customers in store and in drive thru at this business.nnPeople are buying your coffee for $6-$8 3x or more of the competitors and you ask for a tip? For what exactly?nnAnd more outrageously, you ask for a tip at the drive through? Taking everyone’s time in the line while your employee brings over the device while awkwardly looking away.nnJust change the wording to “we don’t pay our employees so we’d like to beg for your handout” and at that point I might consider.nnGive yourself a reality check Starbucks.

I ordered a blonde roast coffee, but they didn’t have any ready. Instead of letting me know or starting a pour over right away, they left me waiting around with no update. After 6 minutes I had to ask about it myself, and only then did they finally start making the pour over. Really disappointing service — if you’re out of something, at least let the customer know up front or get the replacement going right away.

Starbucks usually has comfy chairs, couches, or booths in an interesting, well designed establishment. This one has the products, but not the look. They have hard chairs and stools along the counter or window. They do have good washrooms though. If you come for the coffee, you won’t be disappointed.

The past few Fridays - don’t have the ingredients to make my drinks and service was bad.nnUpdate: Tried to give this location another chance this weekend and the service was still rough tall guy working there and they still didn’t know how to make an espresso frappe. First he handed me an almost white frap… I asked for it to be re made with more coffee and they made another one EXACTLY THE SAME. I order this drink at every Starbucks and I never have an issue.
