Poor customer service. Shelf is empty, ask cashier if she can check for more stock, she refuses. Never knew stores hated making more money... other Shoppers locations are happy to check. Not this one. Every. Single. Time. Not sure where these cashiers came from but sure wish theyd try harder to fit in here in Canada and give better customer service.
Last night, I visited Shoppers to pick up items for a DoorDash order and asked a staff member where I could find a particular item. She responded by saying, “You’re being paid by DoorDash, help yourself.”nnWhile I understand that I am working with DoorDash, I am still purchasing items on behalf of a Shoppers customer. The order is being placed and paid for by a customer of your store — I am simply completing the shopping for them.nnIt would have taken very little effort to direct me to the correct aisle. Providing basic assistance in locating items is part of customer service, regardless of who is making the purchase.
Drove to this Shoppers from Airdrie as it is open until 12 pm which is wonderful. I was in a lot of pain and suspected that I had Strep throat. I asked the pharmacist if he would possibly be able to do a rapid Strep test as I saw online that this service was offered. He responded with “for what ?”. What a strange response.nI paid the $30 and filled out the form required. He took the swab and then explained that he would check the results in 10-15 mins and if it’s positive he would prescribe an antibiotic and gargle. Time kept ticking by as I was sitting in the waiting area and listening to the pharmacy team chitchat. When the 15 mins had passed I thought that perhaps he had checked the results and was filling a prescription for me. After 40 mins of sitting in pain and discomfort with no communication my husband went to check for an update of what was going on. The pharmacist then said that he had forgotten about the test. He went to check it and it was negative. I have since called my regular pharmacist who said that the results would not be reliable. Very unimpressed with the service that I received from the strange response to being completely forgotten. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because he prescribed me a gargle that helped a little bit with the pain.
Shoppers Drug Mart needs to seriously improve cashier training and overall customer service. Cashiers should be able to understand customer questions properly instead of responding mechanically like a script.nnI had a payment issue caused at the counter, but the cashier did not admit his mistake. Instead, I was told to submit an online inquiry, which takes 2–3 hours, for an issue that should have been resolved immediately in-store. I was only asking for information, not creating a problem.nnThe cashier involved was named Vikram. On top of that, the manager was behaving more like his buddy instead of listening to the customer and addressing the issue professionally. This is a workplace, not a casual hangout—basic professionalism was missing.nnIf an employee is unwell, sleepy, or not attentive, they should not be working as a cashier, especially when handling payments.nnBecause of this experience, I will not be dealing with this store anymore. I would rather pay $10 more elsewhere than return here. Very frustrating and disappointing experience.
I shopped at the cosmetics department today and the experience was honestly quite unpleasant. The staff showed very little interest in helping — no smile, no warmth, and no real willingness to provide service. Shopping for cosmetics is usually a more personal experience, and customers are often offered samples, but the staff here seemed reluctant and unenthusiastic from the start.nnWhat made things worse was at checkout: after I had already paid, the security tag was not removed. When I tried to leave the store, the alarm went off. Even though we clearly had the receipt, the staff at the front entrance took a long time checking each item one by one. The whole situation felt uncomfortable and embarrassing, as if we were being treated like we had done something wrong.nnOverall, the service lacked basic courtesy and attention to detail, and the experience left me feeling very disappointed. This is not what I would expect when shopping at a cosmetics counter.
