Severn Lodge - Muskoka, Ontario, Canada Resort

We had a terrific time at Severn Lodge! It was our first time and impressed with how smoothly all the meals and activities were run. Excellent for families. The real stand-out is the staff - all incredibly friendly and happy to help and so good with kids. Breakfast and Lunch is very good, the dinner service is beyond excellent. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable - I don't think you need much more as the real fun is enjoying the waterfront and all the lake activities. I organized a group of 17 of us and the staff did an amazing job of seating us together each dinner (which I know was not easy with 11 kids and 6 adults). In a perfect world the hot tub and games room would be bigger but neither lessened our fun.

The location, the staff, and of course the food are all top notch. We were lucky to have excellent weather for the duration of the stay. The property is immaculate. While the room/lodge (I stayed in the Algonquin) was showing its age and slightly crooked, it was ultra clean and very well maintained. Lots of character in that place which adds to the experience. Every single staff member I interacted with over the weekend was super friendly, knowledgeable, and most importantly; patient. The food was perfect; fresh and obviously cooked with quality in mind. Don't expect a Michelin-style experience, but you will not be disappointed with the quality of the ingredients, cooking, and service. I need to go back there. It was a serene location, and helped make the wedding a great one. Thank you to the staff of Severn Lodge for the experience. You all made that weekend one to remember. Be proud of what you have achieved there. I hope to be back next year!

I booked a 3 day Labor day weekend package (from Friday to Monday). When I booked it online, it said it includes 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 3 dinners. 3 days before my vacation, I received an email which said "dinner is not included".When I called them, they told me the Friday night dinner is not included. I asked them to look at the website again, and then find out that there is only the package for 2018 now ( in 2018 package, all meals are included), the 2017 information has been replaced by 2018, I can't see the 2017 packages any more. I am very very sure that when I booked, all meals are included. There is no place to mention the first night dinner is not included. I told them we should be honest, But they insisted that the first night dinner is not included for every one on 2017 package. Can any one tell me if that is true. I haven't started my vacation yet, but this is definitely not a good experience. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I have been back from Severn Lodge. The service is excellent and the food is really good too. We had a good time, Thanks.

Reservation / Front desk provides incomplete information, they are presumptive and they lack basic customer service courtesy and honesty. When I was making the reservation they did not tell me that there were no cancellation options, I made two bookings and completed the first visit as per plan and for the second visit called in a full week before to cancel as a family medical emergency had come up, they demanded 21 day cancellation (yet did not mention this at time of booking). I told them that I will call them back and hoped to still make the trip work. I get an email in 15 minutes about my $200 booking amount being forfeited. Complete disaster of protocol and awful customer service with no regard for a returning customer. I would never recommend this property to friends and business associates and the disingenuous front desk staff are big reason for that. Few other issues - We could not check in till 3:45 PM and were asked to check out by 10 AM (we did before that) but really do you need 5 hours to prepare rooms ? and you can't hand over rooms by 3 PM. Waiting with my little boy after the drive from Toronto was no fun. Appears to be basic housekeeping / management problem. Choices in breakfast and lunch are rather limited but the dinner is good. Location and property features are good though be prepared for weeds/water grass in water if you are an avid swimmer. Was looking to organize a business trip with my key staff later in year but after my awful experience will not return and try to find something better. ************************** The Mgmt commented on my review promptly entirely disagreeing and asking me to call them if I need to ....Denial & the sense of entitlement starts from the top in a team....how about you call a customer, who was trying to return to your place ? There are many positive reviews but some are critical too and I believe most people who do not have a good experience do not bother posting anything and move on with their lives. To the Mgmt team there, you have my contact information, why don't you call me ? Thanks.

Absolutely loved it! Great couples weekend. Amazing staff. Beautiful resort.
