Clean, friendly, safe. It’s a basic motel in cottage country. Well maintained. It’s expensive during the busy season but a good choice if you can’t find a cottage friend to stay with and need a spot to sleep for a night or two. Motorcycle friendly. We stayed here to catch a show at the Key to Bala.
Love our stay here. Super friendly owners. Perfect location, 7 min drive from Hardy Lake Provincial park. Walking distance to restaurants. Perfect little private beach with beautiful view of the lake . Rooms are definitely outdated but they are clean, cozy and comfortable. I think the only thing missing would be a coffee maker or a kettle In rooms but there's a great Cafe 5 min walk from the motel. Loved it here and will definitely be back.
So, to be honest, I can not complain much as I had read reviews and kind of knew what I was getting into. But still I will explain my experience so that the next person can make a good decision.nWe stayed 1 night in 2 rooms, one single bed, and one double bed for $430.00. I agree with many other reviews. Rooms were very basic, as they have described.nBeds - very comfortablenHeating - it was not warm in the night, in the morning, we realized that air comes in from the wall mointed around AC unit, making heating not effective.nThat was in room 10, double room.nToilet basin was not clean enough and felt disgusted, and I would have cleaned it if there were any detergents or if people were available to get detergents. So , we had to bear that condition.nAllison was very helpful when she was available. She gave us a microwave to the larger room and arranged for us to check in very early as their standard time. I appreciate that. But please note that they are not available in person or via phone until in the morning, and if anything happens in the night or after she left, no way to contact them really. We tried to call them around 6 pm to get something but no answer from the phone, no power to the door bell and no one was available in the office. I guess they have been doing their buisness like this for years, and they might have a certain clientele that do not mind that, but that is not for us. We usually do not stay in motels but thought for one night it would be okay but not again.nAnother fact nothing to do with the motel is that all restaurants close around 7 except the pub, and there was a wait list for it. We ended up going to Sherwood Inn in Port carling, and their fine dining experience was very good.nThere is a shared beach behind the motel, and it is nice, though we could not enjoy it because of the rain.nAlso, note that there is no coffee machine in the room, but I could make an instant coffee with boiled water using the microwave.
Their garden center has something for everyone. Great variety and friendly staff
Amazing spot. Stayed in the cottage by the beach for a few days...walk off the large deck right onto the private sand beach. Absolutely beautiful.nnCottage is well layed out, lots of room for a small group, full kitchen, sunroom, large deck, everything you need. Close to downtown as well and couldn't be much more convenient to the beer store!!nnCheck out the garden center on the property too. Lots of cool plants / varieties I haven't seen often. Very good prices.
