I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this store. I purchased a pair of shoes at a high price, and within less than 12 hours a clear defect appeared. When I returned to the store to request an exchange, the staff were unhelpful, and they eventually brought out their manager.nnUnfortunately, the manager, Cecilia, had the worst behavior of all. Instead of examining the issue or listening to my concern, she spoke to me in a very dismissive and unprofessional manner. She insisted the shoes were “in good condition” and claimed that I had caused the damage. Being blamed for a defect that appeared immediately was extremely upsetting, and her tone made the experience even more unpleasant.nnNo support, no solution, and no respectful customer service were offered.nAs a customer, I expected honesty, fairness, and proper after-sales service — but none of that was provided.nnI hope upper management takes this matter seriously so other customers do not go through the same experience.
One of the cashiers, lots of makeup possibly phillipina, is unnecessarily mean. Just oozes anger. Phew! Makes the whole experience unpleasant
Like the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Lonsdale and 4th Street, this is one of, if not the most neatly organised and relatively clean thrift stores I’ve been to—Salvation Army affiliate or otherwise. I spent quite a while looking at their colour-categorised display of various glass and ceramic wares: greens, blues, reds, oranges, blacks, purples, and even a small selection of aquamarines; there was a lot for the eyes to feast upon.nnThere is quite a library of books on the second floor loft; unfortunately, nothing to my fancy. Menswear was negligible; three-fourths of the clothing and accessories on the floor were for women.nnI eventually set my eyes on two small made in France Duralex green drinking glasses, a small vintage yellow accented German Walther cut glass tray, and a vintage diamond point ruby goblet by Indiana Glass. I decided against the Indiana Glass goblet because it wasn’t well taken care of, despite being only $2.99; the ruby portion was scrubbed with likely steel wool and scraping away was noticeable. Pity; I really liked it. I also left the Duralex glasses; as beautiful as they were these would have been a superficial hoarding purchase. I simply have no need for them, even if they were $1.99 each. Likewise for the Walther tray. Beautiful as it may have been, I had no need for it and would just be hoarding it.nnI eventually bought a 1.8L ramekin-styled Corning Ware casserole dish with PYREX lid for $12.99. I don’t know if this is considered expensive or over-priced, but I wanted it for some dishes I want to cook, and it was in pretty good condition—something practical versus all the superficial items I passed up. I thought I was done with my shopping, but saw they brought out some Funko Pops at the check-out counter. Normally I’m not into that kind of thing, but they had a Ryu and Ken that I couldn’t ignore; if they had a Chun Li that would have been perfect, but alas... only Cammy and Balrog, for which I care not. These will be the only Funkos I'll probably own, but I understand the allure of wanting to collect them.nnThis Salvation Army Thrift Store is quite solid. I cannot give five stars because prices are quite high. Goes without saying, but there are plenty of $0.99 and $1.99 items, and other subjectively worthwhile deals, but mostly prices are on the higher side. I would definitely visit the next time I’m in North Vancouver.
Terrible location.nn- Most employees are fine but I can definitely understand the complaints about their attitude…nn- Watch out for line cutters. There is technically a line but often the employees don’t do anything about it despite some of them knowing where it is. A few employees might start enforcing it after you file a few complaints to their alleged customer service, but they’ll just go back to doing nothing. Some might not even give a damn…. Line up is where the glassware section is if you look, you’ll see it. Those of you who’s reading this who line up anywhere else, YOU are part of the problem. PS. I’m aware that if it’s very busy, they might not be able to enforce it fully but this happens left and right all the time……..nn- The prices here are just ridiculous and nonsense. You can still find the occasional good deals but still…. Those who pays attention to the prices knows that often they overcharge. Feels like the manager herself needs to stop looking at “for profit” stores, eBay, Amazon and so forth.nn- They also have this thing where they refuse to put the books out unless their favourite book customer gets first dibs…. And they have the nerve to tell us to “suck it up”…. And even admitted they’re not a charity….nn- They even posted a signage in the front of the store once a while back. I tried complaining about it on Facebook but they deleted it twice back when this issue first happened.nnFolks, if you care about actual thrift stores, go support your local ones and don’t be so brainwashed into thinking Salvation Army is the best route to go when thrifting. Salvation Army has done some good things, do not get me wrong, but they clearly aren’t the stores you want to support anymore. This location needs to be shut down until the manager gets replaced with someone who actually DOES adjust the prices accordingly……nnEdit: Do not bother with customer service email. They will just decide to stop responding because they felt they had helped enough despite the certain issues kept repeating itself, reinforcing the signage and their lack of desire to help.nnAlso, their regional manager is kind of pointless and useless. They had tried to get me to meet her but I knew things won’t really change. But I decided to meet and once I did, as I suspected, they went back to doing the same thing, proving my point that meeting her was pointless and was just a formality.nnEdit 2: Also, what I find humorous is that as soon as I told them at I felt at this point, this location is essentially berating me, I decided to call them out on it for lowkey taking pot shots at my complaints and that at this point, they’re just doing it to someone who’s a disabled person…… reason why this is a massive issue is that they chose to not respond back to me after.
Good selection of books to choose from. I've bought clothes and other items. It has a parking lot. unlike the other location in North Vancouver.
