Traditional and authentic Japanese restaurant. I've ordered the evening sushi sashimi set dinner. The food and service were both very good. However, on the menu it says 6 pieces of sashimi, but it was actually 3 pieces but cut in half to make 6. Very dishonest and insincere business owners... Very unfortunate.
I come to this place only because I used to go to this restaurant when I was in University. It wasn’t on this address at the time… time flies… I used to loved the Sukiyaki from this restaurant so when I passing by Montreal, I have to come in for some sukiyaki again! It tasted just like before and boy does it brings back some memories from University time and how I used to save up some money just to eat some sukiyaki! it was a nice dinner and some nostalgic time …
Authentic Japanese restaurant. Really fresh. Quality fish and rice. Nothing compared to the other ones that just wants to sell a ball of low quality rice with a little bit of some cheap fish inside. This place is real.
BEST JAPANESE RESTAURANT IN CANADA. Quality and service were the best my wife and I have experienced across this great country of ours. Only comparable to some of the best places we have been privileged to dine at in Japan.
Went there during lunchtime. I ordered a set menu. The miso soup was the best one I ever had! The salad is well seasoned and fresh, and so was the fish. However, the wooden disposable chopsticks are too light to properly eat fish with, and the tea was too dilutec for my taste. The ice cream was okay. I would come back because the miso and the fish are very good.
I ordered sushi and sashimi set, it’s delicious! Lovely staff n good service!
The food is amazing! Truly the best in a long time
Long-time regular patrons of Sakura on Drummond, as we ourselves were, might be somewhat dismayed at the change in ambience at the new location on Stanley. It was a treat to regularly dine out at Sakura, and bring friends and family from out of town to experience it. The lighting was lovely, the tables covered in fresh clean linen, with cloth napkins and little vases with sprigs of real flowers. Alas, no more. The Stanley location is quite dimly lit, the wooden tables ringed and somewhat pockmarked rather wary of placing utensils directly on it, and the thinnest of paper napkins as a serviette. We were looking forward to the tempura entree, but it arrived on the same plate as the main dish, which rather blunted the anticipation. The quality of the salmon teriyaki was not as before, and even the Saki seemed to dilute the spirit, giving no kick. Very sad to write this, as we truly loved to dine there. I would still recommend it as an eatery to chow down in before running off to the movies, but not as a dining experience to share with friends and family. One can only hope this is due to current difficult times, and that it will rebound to its former self in the near future.
Very good atmosphere. The food was of good quality. I loved their sukiyaki has the ingredients were fresh and taste on point. Most surprisingly, they had one of the best rice I’ve ever eaten, and considering my origin, it says something! Service was good, although not the fastest. But you have to be understanding as all the server that I’ve seen, were older Japanese ladies, which gave this place a bit more authenticity appeal. But also slows down the speed. As for price, I would say it’s on the pricier side, for the food that you’re eating. I would say that a reduction in price of about 10% would be great.
Great decently priced sushi. Never ordered anything that wasn't good! You can't go wrong with this restaurant!Food: 5/5
