It's alright, I guess. It's a Safeway.nNot my go-to, but I do stop in to grab a couple things now and then.nnBut I did stop by earlier tonight, and I was trying to buy some salt/pepper.nSelf-CheckOut and it wouldn't scan. I was using the machine right in front of the staff machine thing, and there were 3, then 2 staff just standing there chatting.nI spent 2 minutes trying to scan my salt before I just canceled the order and walked away to check out via a cashier at a register
I come here often, and every once in a while I use the bathrooms. It it’s always smelly and disgusting, and more often than not there’s no hand soap available. Well, this may not be such a big deal for customers, it is however a big deal considering that this bathroom is also used by employees who work in making sandwiches and cutting cheese and handling food products. I stopped buying stuff here which is not prepackaged.
Still love this Safeway. The staff are long-term and friendly, and they really take care of the place and the inventory, with some fancy specialty items and some terrific basics compliments Dijon mustard, chickenless tenders, inexpensive butter. It's a real cut above any other Safeway I've been to in the Lower Mainland.
A few decent sale prices but in general the prices are quite High here.nnI bought some spinach dip with some sliced up baguette in the ready to go meal section. On the package is a big sticker that says ready for you, freshly prepared. Great I hope so. Then I checked the package date, and it was prepared 3 days ago. That's freshly prepared? If you know anything about bread, three days in the fridge and it's going to be dry and stale. Especially sliced bread. So yeah the bread was dry and stale. You can't use a freshly prepared sticker If you're not going to freshly prepare it. I'm not a super picky eater so I ate them, but they were borderline. I bought these before too and they were also dry then, I should have learned. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on you again, please stop fooling me. Customer's always right hehe..nnUnlike the tech inept reviewers who hate self checkout, I actually prefer it is usually a lot quicker and also the line is usually shorter. It's just faster overall. That said, I went shopping here this morning and every single self-checkout was closed. What gives? They had two cashiers open but the line was pretty long for both. It's kind of weird to have self-checkouts but have them closed.
Stella in the deli is super pleasant! It’s refreshing to see someone especially young so patient, attentive and kind while preparing orders.nnStarbucks workers Leslie and Jackie are always super great as well!!
