We drove an hour to this location because they have good reviews. However the experience was extremely disappointing. The first thing that threw me off was the girls behind the counter. They were unpleasant and unwelcoming. Food was mediocre. The lentil soup was watered down, the meat was undercooked and the rice was cold! For $65 I expect a decent meal.
Delicious food, if a little pricey for counter service. The soda machine wasn't working the day we were there and they didn't have a big variety in the soda fridge. The falafel was fresh, crisp and flavorful. Hummus was tasty, as were the salads. The desserts were crisp and fresh and not dripping in honey.
Lots of options between wraps, salads, rice platters to pair with their meat options. Comfortable modern atmosphere.
we love Rumi Grill. the food is always fresh and perfectly spiced. The portions are generous dare I say enormous? and really good. I try to eat Middle Eastern food all over and Rumi Grill is definitely one of the best. You cannot go wrong at Rumi Grill. Vegetarian options: Best felafel on the north side.....these folks are the genuine article.. Good food large portions fast service
For the price you pay, the food is pretty underwhelming. The staff and atmosphere were nice. The lamb and falafel were good, but the portions were rather small for the price. What I can’t get past is the hummus…..for a middle eastern/Mediterranean restaurant to have hummus that is nearly indistinguishable from store-bought should be a crime. It wasn’t very smooth and was just unbearably bland.
I order from Rumi approx 2 times a month. It’s my Friday night go to. I love the chicken schwarma salad and my husband gets the all in platter. The babaganoush is the best, so get an order on the side. Never disappoints. Love you Rumi!
Took 20 minutes to get my dine-in meal ordered at their kiosk inside. Very small portion of lentil soup for $5 watered down. Chicken Shawarma wrap small compared to others that I saw being made and other middleastern places I've tried. NEVER AGAIN for $20. No dry chicken like others stated. One Summer a few years ago tried this place and experienced dry chicken and rice. Food slightly improved today but not worth the price. Unfriendly to women dining by themselves - or maybe I was just crabby after waiting 20 min for simple soup and wrap.
Underfilled soup . Large for $7. Same with sauces. Underfilled half cups .Food: 2/5
Was in town visiting and I had another middle eastern food joint in mind but unfortunately they were closed on saturday, so I decided to take the subway up to wicker park and found this place through google maps. Man was I in for a treat! I ordered a chicken shwarma and wow, was it the most delicious thing I ate the whole time I was in chicago. The chicken was juicy and flavorful and the condiments were tasty but not overpowering. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. The dining area was clean and the bathrooms were clean as well. Customer service was good too. I would definitely go back again next time I'm in chicago.
My favorite falafel in Chicago. They really go all out including middle eastern pickles and cabbage salad their sandwiches. Extremely friendly staff. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Good vegan and vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: Great options for vegans
