Royal Park Hotel

This place really got five stars for the beautiful atmosphere. It's a truly gorgeous Hotel great for a special event like a wedding or just romantic dinner. Presidents have dined here. And it's right in the heart of Rochester. Everything about the area is just lovely. But the food well not so much. It was Tiny portions that were really expensive. But I guess you're a captive audience so you take what you can get right? This place definitely knows who their customers are. They have beautiful teas in the afternoon. Perhaps those are the things that are probably worth coming here for. But no one wants to pay $14 for four slices of French toast.

The view from the terrace was beautiful! And the room was almost sound proof! I do wish there was some type of welcome book in the rooms that let you know the amenities available. There wasn't a microwave in our room (not a big deal) and didn't think about actually asking until the night before we checked out. But when I called they had one to our door within 5 minutes and plugged it in and made sure it was working. Other than the not knowing to ask, it was a wonderful stay!

I attended a fundraiser here recently. The hotel is beautiful. The food at the luncheon was delicious. The staff were wonderful and very attentive. The bartender Elizabeth was exceptional. The patio by the river was my favorite place. Very relaxing.

My wife and I stayed here this past Saturday for a wedding. Hotel is beautiful when pulling in but that's about it. Arriving at 2pm for a 430 ceremony. I was told we would be charged $25 for early check in, to which I agreed. A little ridiculous in my opinion. Also the room was $300 per night which I have paid at other hotels of much higher quality. The reception for this wedding was being held at the hotel. When arriving back to hotel after the ceremony all parking spaces were filled. Even for hotel guest. Vallet service said it would be on the house since I paid for a room. We check out in the morning wanted to charge me an over night fee for parking. Front desk did remove the vallet charge. But give me a break. Beds are comfortable and the terrace rooms have a good view. But next time I stay at a hotel in Rochester it won't be here. We only live 10 miles for here should of just went home after the reception. Hotel is a little too full of itself.

It would have been nice to know that there is construction going on next door to this hotel. If we would have known this, we would have stayed at a different place. The construction crew started early which made it impossible to sleep past 7AM. It actually sounded like the workers were inside our room. The front desk said that no one really minds the noise since people are usually up before this time anyway. We had a work function at the hotel that ran past midnight so I guess we are one of the few who do mind the noise that early. They offered us free breakfast which didn't really matter since being there on business, breakfast is free anyway. Just an FYI to others who may want to consider staying here - beware of the noise next door which goes on from 7AM to approx. 5PM or so. I also thought it was odd that when we arrived at 2PM, the desk informed us that our room was ready and there is a $25 early check-in fee. I have never heard of this one before. We went out for lunch and came back at 3PM and then checked in with no additional fee. We probably would of had lunch at the hotel if we were allowed to check in early.
