We’ve had a wonderful experience at Ron Joyce Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation clinic. All of the health care professionals involved in my child’s care have been phenomenal, empathetic and understanding. The facility is clean and well cared for, and the playground in the back and resource lending library is a nice touch.nnAll employees I’ve encountered from front reception onwards are friendly and polite.nnIt will be bittersweet when my child ages out because he’s been treated so well and it’s given me confidence as a parent. Thank you Infant Parent Program, OT, PT and SLP.
Been on the waitlist to have a doctor see my twins to get a diagnosis since October 2022. Called today to just make sure they have the right contact information and they do. Got transferred to the physician department after inquiring about how much longer we need to wait and of course no one answers. Didn't even bother leaving a message. Absolutely ridiculous that over the course of 2+ years there is still not a doctor able to see my twins. Time is of the essence with stuff like this and our kids are the ones that pay the price.
The psychiatric department should be sued for negligence and malpractice. I have watched and advocated for my vulnerable child, only to see her/us invalidated, incorrectly diagnosed, and forced through this useless, broken system. Her mental health has worsened each year, while doctors in places like this literally sit on suspected diagnoses of serious mental health conditions, refusing to give them to a minor even when the DSM states that the diagnosis should be given to adolescents because earlier diagnosis and treatment lead to a better prognosis. It is systems like this, and people like the psychiatric doctors here and all over our system, that offer little to no hope for the vulnerable population.nnApparently, my teen excitedly picking up a cigarette butt from a crack in the sidewalk and proudly shoving it in my face, expecting me to be as pleased as she is, only matters to me as her terrified parent, not to the psychiatrists we are desperately seeking help from.nnDo better! It's your job to fix the system and help children be the best they can be. How many more kids will be left to drown, beyond reality, so they can no longer reach what was once their amazing potential?nnEDIT: Contact patient experience for what? To tell them that your ignorant, broken system left my child drowning in delusional avoidance of reality, denying her an appropriate diagnosis of a very serious personality disorder until the age of at least 18, cause your system refuses to respect that the DSM states the earlier a diagnosis and treatment is given, the better the prognosis? Intentionally calling her dangerous impulse issues since she was in diapers ADHD, prescribing useless medicine that never worked, while she got worse and worse, so that by the time she was 18, she had impulsively robbed me of an entire cabinet of alcohol, and did everything she can to impulsively avoid her education, when all she once wanted was to graduate with honours, while your system denied her a second referral cause you had NOTHING in place to address her mental health until she was at least 18 and she could get into St. Joe's?!nnHow about the fact that she thinks me holding her accountable to anything about reality is abuse, when the biggest abuse she's ever experienced is the negligence of your useless broken system that could have stepped in back when she was 15 and helped her so she could be honouring her goals and dreams of a University education, that was once her potential. I've watched her decline so poorly into adulthood due to your negligence, I have no interest in even attempting to explain this to your patient experience that will do absolutely nothing but invalidate since it's also nothing but a useless broken system.nnStop invalidating BPD in minors so they become unfortunate, potentially incompetent adults!!! Your Dr's and system are well aware of the DSM, and negligent disregard of what it suggests is destroying the lives of vulnerable people everywhere.
Awesome facitily. Lots of easy parking. Inside is open, bright and very child friendly. The fully accessable park is great for kids before or after an appointment.
To be upfront, this review strictly has to do with the waitlist and wait times. any dealings personnel and staff have been great.nnMy wife and I have been waiting 22 months for help with our now 3 year old son with speech development. Today my wife got a call saying that the wait time has been been increased by ANOTHER YEAR minimum. My son is supposed to be starting school in September, and we're still waiting on a doctor that can even give a diagnosis. This place has utterly failed my son. If parents have the option to been seen elsewhere, they should take it. At least then they won't feel like they're kids are being ignored.nnThe staff actually encouraged us to find outside help because they knew they are short staffed.nnMy wife received the phonecall today because she made an inquiry about our place on the waitlist. So if parents read this and are still waiting, I suggest they make an inquiry themselves.
