I'm the past two and a half years I have spent over half of that time in Juravinski Hospital as a result of various illnesses. In short, I'm extremely grateful for all they have done for me. Keeping me alive when my prognosis was very poor, on two occasions especially! It's disappointing to read posts by people who went to emergency and complain about wait times. I've learned through personal experience and discussions with medical staff that this department is extremely busy and it's impossible to please everybody, for many reasons. Complaining about wait times in the emergency departments is an exercise in futility. Expecting fast service will only happen for critical patients and you will have to wait if you've been assessed as less serious, as they are a priority. New arrivals may bump you further down the list of people waiting if more critical and this may be frustrating but ALL hospitals run this way and it is super frustrating; however, you'll appreciate this system when and if you ever are critically ill. I can certainly attest to this practice and for their being a rating scale that aims to care for the most serious first, as it saved my life! I also have spent hours waiting on stretchers to be seen, but that's just the way the system works. That said, I've received excellent care by almost all staff, including but not limited to nurses, doctors, food service personnel, diagnostic technicians, surgeons and the list goes on. I'm not suggesting that there hasn't been some staff that need attitude adjustments and might be working in the wrong field or that some procedures went wrong because it happened and that is a fact. These problems will be dealt and addressed another time. Overall, I recommend Juravinski Hospital to all who are in need of good care, but don't expect perfection because that is not realistic in my opinion. I wish everyone the best, especially those that took and are taking care of me presently. Stay safe.
I had the occasion to seek medical attention at the hospital on two occasions, and I was extremely impressed with the level of care that was exhibited by all parties. The nurses, doctors, and other staff members on the Same Day Surgery Unit were caring, and made my experience an exceptionally pleasant one. I wish them and their families all the best, and thank them for reminding me that there is still hope for us humans in this ever changing world. Kudos to you all.
I have been seeing Dr. Bali, for my arthritic knee and he has been wonderful to deal with, as has his Assistant Amanda. Today I was there and dealt with him, as well as another resident and fellow and just wanted to share how pleased I am with everyone in that Orthopaedic clinic - I even witnessed another technician apologize to someone for them having had to wait for an extra 5 minutes! Seriously, everyone is kind, understanding and patient. 10/10
I’m only giving it a one star because that’s what’s needed to actually write a review. My boyfriend went in last night for chest pains as he’s been having them a lot lately and heart problems run in the family. We’ve been here 11 hours and are still here waiting. He’s had two ekgs, two blood draws, X-rays and it’s been four hours without seeing a doctor. The nurses are extremely rude. We got kicked out of the room we were in to be put in recliner chairs only to be kicked out of then and put in a regular chair. This hospital has went down over the years. Not once did I see someone cleaning or sanitizing. The room we were in had dust on the dresser. Never mind the floors or chairs being wiped down. But as of right now I’m sitting across from a lady with contagious droplets with no mask. They all stand around giggling laughing.
Last month I was admitted to Juravinski hospital for failed gallbladder removal surgery in Burlington. Dr. Dath took care of me and fixed the problem and saved my life. During my stay in ICU for four days I was pleasantly surprised by the care given to me by all the Doctors, Nurses and other staff. Even though there is extremely shortage of the staff, all the nurses were very extremely helpful, compassionate and took good care of me. I cant thank enough to all of them. Keep up the good work.
This hospital is absolutely the worst. I have sickle cell and spent 5 hours in the waiting room during a crisis. Once I was brought to a bed waited another hour just to get an iv and some medication then kicked out of the room and put out in the hallway so that it be given to someone else. It’s now been 24h and still haven’t seen a doctor. Most of the nurses are disrespectful and over all this hospital should be shut down. If I could give a zero star I would. Left the hospital still in pain and no health plan or medication to feel better. If I die, my death is on Dr Fraser, Graeme
My care here on my visits for unfortunately a number of kidney stone attacks has always been professional with the doctors explaining things with laymen terms for better understanding. Yes there is unfortunately a long wait but this as no fault of the nurses and doctors; please treat them with respect. Location is thankfully closeby to where I live.
Imagine a hospital that has an 84 year old woman lying in a bed in the hallway for 2 days. Not even in a room. Her Grandson comes to visit her, as her first guest of the day. The nurse decided to attack the grandson right away regarding his mask exemption. The grandson politely said he was exempt and that he was only visiting for 15 minutes. The nurse proceeds to contact security to have him kicked out . What type of human being would do such a thing ? Do you have any compassion ? I know being a nurse is a horrible life but do you need to make others purposely miserable as well ? Anyways my grandma will be home soon and ill go back to smiling everyday. Enjoy your face diapers.
I just had one of the most traumatic experiences of my life in this hospital. I was admitted because I fell unconscious, and when i woke up i was paralyzed from anxiety: i couldn’t move, speak, or make decisions. I tried my best to tell the staff that i was having a mental health crisis but my ability to communicate was not what it usually is. There was one nurse in particular that made me feel extremely awful, she was short tempered and made me feel like a burden. I really wish that there were social workers or mental health nurses on duty because I was going through something extremely traumatic, and the visit to this hospital only made it far worse.
Amazingly generous caring team of doctors nurses surgeons and even the food was great. My story is a long one and I am going to try my best to shorten it down to the nitty gritty I had been struggling with heavy opiate addiction for 12 years. Lost my house and was managing to go from couch to couch but was always one day away from a bench in the park. Early October, colder out. Couldn't find a place I could afford and I managed to get motel room for one week and it was all my money. I was going to have to figure out something really fast. But. At least I had a place to stay for the week. I slept.. Early morning.. Woke to a familiar agony... Kidney stones. I called an ambulance. They were quick to ease my pain run tests and discovered a mild infection rearing its ugly head. I was given 2 prescriptions a taxi voucher to get back to my room and told me that if I found I was having unmanageable pain I was to get back to see them. I had missed my dose of methadone that day but I was going to go first thing in the morning.. No worries. I would fill my scripts while I was at my clinic. Bf was at work and was to back in the morning after his night shift. I slept very. At some time I woke up to a raging fever, urinary tract infection pains and that damn one was on the move again Called the ambulance, called bf and asked him to come to the hospital for the keys in the morning. I was in significantly worse shape than the day before I was told that I had a fairly bad bladder infection and it had actually began spreading out. I was becoming septic and pretty fast They decided that I should be admitted and started on IV fluids, much stronger antibiotics pain meds and made sure they were checking on me often. After 2 more overnight stays I was surrounded by a TEAM of specialists, students and was told that they were not having as much success clearing up this infection and after several visits and checks and discussions the team decided that I would be going in for minor surgery to insert a stint up into my urinary tract.. And after that I would be monitored for the next day and likely discharged once my fever had gone down. I think I was looking at close to the end of my paid motel stay and I had more boxes and belongings than I would be able to simply lug around while walking the streets and officially homeless. I got increasingly anxious with each passing day. My nurse noticed and asked me what was wrong... I broke down and told her everything. I was going to be released from the hospital the day after minor surgery
