Pros: Nice place, friendly and fast service. Food is delicious and very close to authentic Georgian.nCons: prices are too high.nnOverall I would recommend the place provided that your’re ready to pay $$$
What an absolutely wonderful experience! Why didn't I come sooner?nnThe atmosphere is calm, welcoming, and assuming, with very pleasant decor.nnOur server was terrific and extremely helpful and courteous.nnThe aromas and flavours of our dishes were inviting, and the dishes were so satisfying.nnI recommend this spot, and I look forward to coming back!
I found this place while browsing through the Michelin recommendations in the city and glad we ended up there. It was a packed Saturday evening and glad we made reservations a week in advance. The food was wonderful and you can tell they have a great source for their ingredients as you can taste the actual flavors of the produce. This was our first time trying Georgian cuisine and we loved everything we tried. The imereti eggplant with walnut sauce, dolma, pickled veggies, chashushuli beef stew, kudbari pork meat pie and chicken kebab were all amazing. Definitely going back.
What a memorable meal. They don't take reservations on the weekends, so we waited about 45 min. It wasn't a problem - we had a drink down the street and they called me when our table was ready.nnI've never had Georgian cuisine before, so I have no point of comparison, but everything was delicious.nnWe were immediately drawn to the khachapuri acharuli, the bread boat filled with gooey cheese, egg yolk and butter. Several tables around us had ordered it, and it looked amazing. We also ordered the chakapuli, a lamb stew brimming with chopped tarragon. When stewed with the lamb, the herb took on a much more mellow flavour and the broth was light & fragrant. Lastly, we had a cold eggplant appetizer stuffed with cheese and pickled vegetables.nnGeorgian wines are also new to me. We tried a couple different types, but our favourite was the saperavi, a full bodied dry red wine.nnEverything was reasonably priced and it was such a great experience. I definitely want to come back to try more dishes dumplings next time for sure!
The food here is fantastic. Hearty, large portions and you’ll likely try some things you’ve never tried anywhere else before. Given the region of the world that this cuisine is from, the food is like an intersection of flavours across different cultures.nnFirst of all, the breads here are so delicious. They’re soft and chewy on the inside, while having a great crispy texture on the outside. Khachapuri was a highlight, but you likely won’t go wrong with anything from their breads section.nnThe eggplant flavour of the badrijani was also surprisingly strong. Most eggplant dishes I’ve had tend to overpower the taste of the vegetable with seasoning or other ingredients, but the taste really shines through in this dish. It’s creamy and so flavourful.nnThe flavour profile of khinkali was really interesting. I’ve had a lot of Chinese baozi and Cantonese soup dumplings, and this unexpectedly didn’t taste like those. The dough is a lot thicker and the seasoning used in the meat is very different. I think it was primarily the cumin I tasted that changed the flavour profile from what I was expecting.nnI really wanted to try the odjakhuri but they were sold out for the day, so I opted for the shaslik. The portions are really big and I was already stuffed by this point, but the pork and potatoes were seasoned really well.nnFinally I tried the pelamushi for dessert. I’ve never had flour mixed into gelatin before and the texture was very interesting. The grape flavour really shines through.
