Red Fish Blue Fish

10 years later, still worth the wait!nIt’s been 10 years since my last visit to Victoria, so stopping by Red Fish Blue Fish was a non-negotiable! The queue was insanely long, and we ended up waiting an hour, but it was completely worth it.nFirst off, the portions are massive. The halibut fish and chips were bigger and thicker than my hand! Because the fish is so fresh, there was zero fishy odor, and the texture was perfectly firm and flaky.nWe also got the Red Chowder, which had a subtle curry and cumin flavor profile. My husband absolutely loved it!nFor our third dish, we ordered the salmon taco. The salmon was cooked just right, served in a chewy, nutty tortilla with fresh, crisp coleslaw and a light cumin-accented dressing that balanced everything out beautifully.nSince it's an open-air, outdoor setup, seating is quite limited and you have to accept the long wait. However, the turnover is pretty fast, so if you wait a bit, you’ll easily snag a spot to sit down.nWe ordered the exact same menu items as we did 10 years ago, and we're so grateful this special spot with so many memories is still standing strong!

I'm not a line person. That said, I can understand why people are willing to line up for these fish and chips. We waited about an hour on a weekend evening and ordered the halibut and chips along with a cup of chowder. The fish was excellent - fresh and flaky - while the chowder was hearty. We did find the standard portions quite large so if you are not a huge fan of fries, I'd recommend ordering one fish and chips and adding an extra piece of fish and a side of coleslaw instead. There was also plenty of seating available so no need to worry about finding a spot.

As a fish and chips lover…this is genuinely one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. So delicious and so fresh. And don’t even get me started on the salad!!! So amazing. I literally just look at this picture sometimes and think about how good it was. Worth the slight wait, and there is a lot of seating options along the dock, so supper with a view.

Best Fish and chips! Ive never before had fried wild salmon before, its typically cod or halibut which they also have - but the fried salmon was so good! I only got one and it was plenty since it was HUGE, basically the whole fish. The coating was perfect and you get a nice seating area by the Harbour with refillable drinks for those hot days. I also saw a sea otter swimming right by the restaurant! I do warn the line was long and it never went down while I was there, but that should tell you all you need to know about how good their food is

A bit of a line to order, however it moves quite efficiently.nThe staff taking the order and prepping it are very friendly, knowledgeable and funny.nThe food is absolutely AMAZING to say the least. Our party grabbed a few things to share and enjoyed it ALL. The fish is fresh, the fries and tartar sauce tasty. The chowder absolutely divinely scrumptious.nWill definitely come again when back in Victoria. Thank you.
