We got the plain Tori Shoyu and the Tori paitan. The noodles are thicker on the Shoyu. The Shoyu is a little bit too salty. The Tori paitan broth had a nicer flavour and was creamy as expected. The ajitama egg was perfectly cooked with a jammy yolk. The menu says the Tori paitan comes with “All tori ramens are served with pork chashu, tori chashu, soft-boiled egg, kikurage, green onion, caramelized onion.” I was expecting two pieces of meat, 1 pork and 1 Tori chicken but I only had a pork. Not sure if the pork was a mix or if it was missing a chicken. They serve a cold barley tea complimentary. The decor is nice with a high loft ceiling. Definitely gives you a comfortable feeling. They have quite a few tables probably can seat 40-50+. We came around noon and it was about 60% full. By the time we left it was almost full. The seating so very nice and comfortable for families. We were one of several families at that time. If you drive down far enough there is free street parking on the side street. Did not have booster seats only high chairs. Did not have kid friendly utensils and bowls. Parking: Side street pass the permit only parking Kid-friendliness: Did not supply kid friendly utensils or bowl. And no boosters only high chairs.
Really good chicken ramen here!! They also provide chilled tea. We will be back again. Friendly staff.
Delicious chicken paitan broths and chicken+seafood broths. The pork and chicken chashu were tender and flavourful. The caramelized onions were delightfully sweet. The ramen eggs were so gooey on the inside. We ordered extra noodle, and we were pleasantly surprised that it came with extra toppings including 2 pieces of chicken chashu! The space was airy, bright, clean and modern. The high ceiling and natural light throughout the whole restaurant made it a very cosy place to enjoy good food and company. Service was friendly and attentive. There’s paid street parking along Main Street. I highly recommend this place for ramen! Hope they’ll offer appetizers such as gyoza and karaage in the future. Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and kids’ utensils.
This place just opened so they have a small menu currently. Even with the small menu selection, the ramen was really good. The egg was cooked to perfection and there were a lot of toppings by default. My only critique would be that the noodles weren't chewy enough. It was too soft. I did enjoy the cold barley tea which was pretty refreshing with the ramen
Had the Tori Shoyu Ramen! The menu is quite small, maybe because they just opened. The service is fantastic and it's not currently crazy busy! The soup is delicious, and the meat is not dry at all it is sous vide. The egg was cooked to perfection! Bonus, if you order extra slices of meat, it's only 3$ for 2 slices and these are fairly big slices. Lastly, they serve quite a flavourful barley tea!
A highly-focused menu comprised of aged chicken and dashi ramen broths. Meticulous attention to detail and quality -- a true "from-Japan" experience in Vancouver. Highly recommended to those who can appreciate rich, authentic flavours. Now serving beer and liquor!Food: 5/5
Although I prefer pork broth ramen, I think this is one of the better chicken broth ramen I have had in Vancouver, or at least it is better than the two options that exist nearby in the neighborhood Afuri and Marutama. There was only one slice of pork chashu but it was thick and large; there were also three pieces of well-seasoned chicken. I wouldn't say that the food is cheap, but I think the price is fair for the neighborhood and the cost includes an egg which is an additional cost at a lot of places nowadays. There are 4 ramen options with either chicken broth or chicken+seafood broth . All ramen bowls come with pork chashu, some chicken chashu, and soft-boiled egg. Prices range from $18.25-$19.25 for the base ramen bowls without add-ons. According to the waitress, drinks are coming at the end of august There is paid parking nearby and residential parking behind but be careful - some spots are permit-only.
The broth was ok nothing too special, but the 2 pieces of chicken that come with the ramen is kinda sad. Overall decent price but nothing special.Food: 2/5
I think chicken broth ramen might be my new fave ramen based. They do it in a way thats creamy but still light? Ugh so good. The ramen noodles were abit thinner than i wouldve liked but texture was great. Egg was cooked just right. Nice portions. GREAT PRICES. Atmosphere is light and airy. Spacious. Not traditional but great. Wouldve liked to have some hot green tea. But overall superb. A good sign that they only have a few menu items= means they do it well.
We were just starting our walk up Main St when we realized the Ramen Kounotori was open. We were greeted by super friendly staff when we peered in so could not refuse taking a patio seat with our dog. The restaurant occupies the Old Bird Location on Main. The drink and food menu is limited but the team assured us they were working on some appetizers. We decided to try the Tori Paitan Ramen and Tori Shoyu Ramen. The broths in each had their own yummy qualities. The Tori Paitan had a rich creamy flavorful broth. The Tori Shoyu broth had a lot of layers and depth to it..seafood and aged soy sauce. It’s hard to describe but you have to taste it. The chicken was juicy. The chashu was delicious. The ramen eggs were perfectly done. Other toppings added texture and crunch. The ramen noodles had perfect bite and chewiness. The Sapporo washed everything down well. We are hoping the menu expands. So far the ramen bowls are awesome and the service beyond expectations! Look forward to coming back.
