Can't argue that the food was good...But I went on a Thursday nights... Restaurant half full ...Ordered 9 dishes...but spend 2hrs to wait for all to come out...Avg 15mins per plate...Kind of remind me at a French restaurant...Food: 5/5
Came here with my mom and two boys today and it wasn’t very busy and we got a table right away. We ordered a beef rice roll, deep fried pig trotters, custard buns, sticky rice and soy sauce pork neck and string bean flat rice noodles. Everything was so good! Big portions and excellent price point. The servers were attentive and kind. Definitely recommend!
Finally! A new dim sum restaurant that serves the Cantonese classics. No fusion, very reasonably priced dim sum. The rice wrap fish cake with bean curd sheets had such complex textures - my favourite. Service was pleasant and polite. Will definitely come back.
Decent start for this new restaurant. Service is ok. They do the minimum, but some are not so thoughtful about the little extras, like asking what tea to serve when seating someone or cutting some dim sum, like those in a roll shape, that other restaurants would do. Dim sum dishes we ordered were all good and reasonably priced. Parking is mainly street parking. Residential street parking is still free off Main Street.
Corner 29 is appropriately located on the corner of 29th and Main Street. Formerly Meet Rice and Kings before that. The interior looks a bit brighter than before they have an awkwardly placed skylight on one side of the restaurant which may have aided the lighting. First dish to arrive was the hand scraped rice roll with beef and cilantro. Not a thin rice roll but nice and velvety and more of a mouth feel from the rice rolls. Not bad steamed spareribs in garlic sauce and the chaozhou chiu chow dumplings were large with a thinish wrapper tho it had a tendency to break due to the amount of filling. The braised beef tripe with special sauce was tender and had good flavour. Huge portion of eggplant stuffed with shrimp paste. We also ordered the deep fried dumplings with diced shrimp and pork we always call these things football because of their shape. Unfortunately, it took forever for this dish to come out and we had to ask a couple of times for it. Overall, the food is pretty solid, the portions are generous and most dim sum dishes were about $8-9. On the down side, the food seemed to take long to come out football took an hour from when we ordered them. Washrooms are weirdly placed downstairs so you might have problems if you have mobility issues.
Food was average, not good enough for me to return. Service is alright, what you would expect from a dim sum place. Limited neighborhood parking.Food: 3/5
I have been invited to join my friend’s dinner party. Very traditional Cantonese cuisine they cook for customers with fresh ingredients. We have ordered three dishes and a soup for sharing as Chinese dine-culture. The Sautéed Pork Sliced with Chilli Pepper is crunchy and chewy, really fresh and delicious. I haven’t had this for a long long while. The photo shows the Hand Shred Chicken with Ginger Sauce which I my favourite. Because I have to taking care my friend’s baby, did not record much photos, but we enjoy the food and space so well. PS: better to make a reservation before visit.
Excellent Dim Sum and dinner dishes. Excellent services, reason for 4 stars cause they seem to be under staffed at times! It’s a corner cafe and it’s not a 5 star renovated restaurant. Nice and clean! You will for sure enjoy your times there!Food: 5/5
I have been here 3 times for dim sum and twice for dinner with my wife and parents and each time the service was excellent, Order was taken quickly and tea and hot water refilled without asking. The dim sum is very good and dinner was great. What impress me was the last time I was there a month ago for dinner my mom enjoy the cookies at the end the waiter gave her some extra. TODAY the waitress remember and gave extra cookies without asking . The little things that count and I don't mind adding the larger tip and coming back to dine here again.
Food was really good but there was nearly no service. Seems they are still testing things out and staff are not well trained. Give it sometime and I think the management will become better.
