ProHealth Care: Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital

Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital Been through a couple of cardiac-related procedures there. Competent people, clean facilities. Watch out for their billing department; payment plans negotiated between the hospital accounts receivable department and patients are cavalierly farmed out to a contracted (third-party) collection agency which immediately duns you with mailed demands for payment as soon as they receive the account. These dunning letters are unsettling to say the least, with veiled threats to patients' credit EVEN IF YOU KEEP CURRENT WITH THE PAYMENTS AGREED TO BY THE HOSPITAL. Once your account goes to this contractor, the hospital treats you like a second-class concern. When I voiced my upset over this practice, I was told, in essence: "Too bad. That's how we do things. If you don't like it, pay your bill." If you care about such unpleasantness (and brother, believe me when I say it IS unpleasant), it is best to have all your finances arranged *before* accepting treatment at OMH.
