Improving the lives of people with severe illness or injury takes more than skill and compassion – it takes innovation.
LifeCare Hospitals of Wisconsin is a 75,000-square-foot specialty hospital built specifically to treat medically complex and critically ill patients requiring extended, acute care hospitalization.
Our facility has 62 licensed beds and offers private rooms for all patients. This includes a 10-bed intensive care unit (ICU) and four specially designed bariatric rooms. The hospital also features a rehabilitation gym, on-site pharmacy, in-house radiology and the LifeCare Center for Advanced Wound Healing which offers the latest in technological advances, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. We are accredited by The Joint Commission and Medicare certified. We accept Medicare, Medicaid and also work with a multitude of different commercial insurance plans.
We are passionate about giving our patients the best chance at recovery from acute injury or illness by providing early and aggressive intervention in a critical care setting. Our treatment team includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians and therapists across a range of disciplines — physical, speech, occupational, respiratory and psychosocial therapy. We believe this intra-disciplinary approach helps speed physical, emotional and spiritual recovery.
We embrace each of our patients as individuals with a personal history and unique health situation and provide the compassion, support and nurturing necessary to achieve optimal recovery. One example of this is the initial care coordination team conference which is led by an RN case manager assigned to each patient. This meeting is held within 72 hours of admission and is designed to address the patient’s individual needs though a specific plan of care that is coordinated with their entire treatment team, the patient / family and financial payor source when needed.
Our clinical expertise includes:
• Comprehensive multi-specialty medical staff including in-house overnight physician coverage to address any emergency situation
• Trans-disciplinary teams which include various physician specialties, wound / ostomy / continence nurses, certified nutritional support dietitian, pharmacists and physical / speech / occupational and psychosocial therapy
• Experienced respiratory therapy team onsite
• Hospital level radiology department (X-rays / CAT Scans) with
• State-of-the-art wound care program directed by physicians and certified wound clinicians specializing in wound care. Our team utilizes a “sponge-based” wound VAC system and on-site hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) when clinically appropriate. Transparent acrylic / private hyperbaric chambers provide patients with individualized HBO therapy monitored by certified physicians / HBOT technicians who are present throughout each treatment. For those that suffer from chronic or non-healing wounds, or sores that have not improved during the course of conventional treatment, patients may be referred by a Physician or they can call and make an appointment themselves.
We are building a company that cares for each patient's body, mind and soul.
At LifeCare, we believe sharing expertise and information across medical disciplines is key to developing a treatment plan that fully addresses a patient's recovery - not simply one aspect of it.
Each treatment team is directed by a highly-skilled physician and includes experts in areas such as nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, case management, nutritional services, recreational therapy, social services and psychological services. Patients and family members are important members of the treatment team and are encouraged to participate in all aspects of care.
