Great staff but hard to see your own family doctor! We have a family doctor there who has agreed that I can renew my husband prescription because he works out of town BUT I can't get in to see him before my husband prescription runs out and no other doctor will do it without see my husband! So my husband has a choice lose a days pay which we can't afford or go without the prescription for 2 weeks! I find this pretty sad .
Let this be a warning to anyone else who considers going here. Update 02/25/2020: Most likely due to this clinic, I have irreversible joint damage to my MTP joint. Next time, if you do not want to release information over the phone, tell me the TRUTH, don't LIE to me saying there is no issue. The information you provided on the first checkup lead me to lay in bed for another 1.5 months thinking it was a light sprain....all the while the inflammation ate away at my joint. I now have constant inflammation occurring 4 flare ups in 4 months even with the use of NSAID medication. I am in my early 30's... If I could sue you for this, I most likely would. Full details below: Not impressed. I had foot issues 2 days before travel, came here to get an x-ray. I assumed it was a mild sprain i'm fairly young, thought I pulled something the previous day. The doctor assumed I had gout, before any x-ray or blood tests. 1.5 months after first injuring...my foot had not fully healed. I called the clinic I was still abroad to ask what the results were on the x-ray. The receptionist said almost verbatim, "Looking at this file, the doctor has not put any results". What does that mean? I asked. She said that "it doesn't look like there is anything to report". I understand you don't release information over the phone, but I explained my situation, and I mentioned my travels to the doctor when we first met, it was established with the doctor and I mentioned this to the receptionist on the way out that I would be calling from abroad to follow up.....Apparently this wasn't listed in my record. 2 months post initial injury. I'm walking again. 3 months post initial injury, out of nowhere my foot starts to swell again I can't walk. I call the clinic asking for the previous x-rays, as I was going to see a new doctor. Next thing I know, i'm being transferred to my physician who saw me.. I'm being told that I have Osteoarthritis!? ....I'm confused, when I last called I was told there was no issue.... at the time this didn't fully sink in, and I did not bring up anything. I wish I did... Couldn't get the x-ray and I called the Cowichan Hospital's medical record department to see if they could send it, apparently the doctor at that location looks at the x-ray and sends over a report to the clinic.....This leads me to believe that first call I made, 1 months after the injury, I was lied to about my results! This lead to slower recovery and improper management of my issue. From my understanding, leaving inflammation too long about 2.5 months in my case can lead to joint damage. Thanks Cowichan Way Clinic! You really know how to effectively communicate with your patients! 5/5 stars of sh*t service! Would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND.
The staff are fast and friendly. That's not the issue. I have been to this walk in clinic now THREE SEPARATE TIMES for the same issue. The first doctor I seen was a God send. He took the time to ask about my medical issue and didn't rush me. The last two times I had the same feemale doctor, she wasn't even going to prescribe me meds for my medical issue which hasn't healed because of it. STILL, this time didn't give me meds. And when I asked if she could help me with another medical issue because I'm in pain, she told me we don't have time and that's it to busy to deal with both. Which NEED to be dealt with. I really don't care whether there are 50 people in the waiting room or not. Do your job and take the time out of the appt to help with what you can. I felt rushed and I really don't even know I've gone back time again. I live 25 minutes out of town so it's not easy for me to get to the doc every so often. Will not be going back.
Probably the worst place to go if you want to have any relationship with a family doctor. If you aren't particular and have an afternoon to kill and want to share your grief with twenty unruly children then get in line for this first come first serve nightmare. I have a family doctor through this clinic and if I ever, I mean EVER, want to see him I have to get in line at 7:45 in the morning to make an appointment, or else, its walk-in for this chap. Like I said, if you are trying to decide where your family should go for the best health care possible, do not look at this place, you will not get it here.
I have attempted to go to this clinic many times only to find it closed at peak ours during the week. One time is fine, even two. But 5 6 7 8 times its rediculous. What can you expect tho, it's in a superstore.
Worst clinic on the island the staff is abusive an unreasonable, not likely to even see a doctor, much better off going to hospital an take your chances there
great service nice people very exact and friendly Doctors
They close at 5:00p.m, not 9:00p.m
Always friendly, professional, and on time!
