Portneuf Bend Campground

We had a tent site during our stay. It was a great place! Yes there were trains that we could hear at night but you can hear those no matter where you camp in Lava Hot Springs. The bathrooms were nice and clean and the owners and workers were extremely nice and helpful. I loved that the campsite had grass for my little kids to run barefoot in! We will definently be staying here again!

Excellent staff and service from reservation, to check in, to check out! The owner was friendly and considerate. Sites & bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. Nice location next to the creek, and the perfect, convenient, distance from town. Would definitely recommend this campsite.

Campground was clean and staff was very nice and helpful, and came around before closing to see if we needed anything. Not a lot of shade at the campsite until the sun went down behind the mountain, very young and small trees. Also very close to the train tracks, which run pretty much all night and made it tough to sleep. Overall camp ground was OK, but most likely won't return because of reasons already mentioned.

Campground itself is very clean. Staff was super nice and even came back after hours to let me get firewood. They'd drive through the campground before leaving at night to make sure everything was good. The negatives are: -you are literally 50 ft from a railroad track with trains going by every 45 through the night. -Pricing structure is a little ridiculous. We had 4 adults. To have an 8 person tent and one car is $28/night - but if we have two 2 person tents....it's an extra $28?? Why?? No extra space is taken. Same concept with the extra person rule. -Youre 10 feet from neighbors. This wasn't a huge deal as we just needed a cheap place to stay and were at the hot springs all day - but breakfast was basically with another group

Lots of rules, staff not friendly way too difficult to check in.
