Would highly recommend! Perfect location, close to town but away from the traffic. Every campsite has grass and trees. The entire area is shaded with a bit of sun in the evening. There is train noise - but that is true of the entire city of Lava Hot Springs. The camp hosts this year 2022 are delightful and could not have been more accommodating. If you are planning to do the hot springs or float the river you can walk. If you are planning to go to the pool it is a longer walk or a short drive.
The tent sites had really good shade next to the river. But they were really close to each other. All tent sites have a table water power and a fireplace. The showers are like 50 years in the past and have just a shower curtain. to close behind you. And after you unload you have to park like a football field away from the tent sites. And they have porta potties which don't get restocked often. But the camp ground was very beautiful. The trains go down the tracks in a regular basis but that's the way all of lava is.
Just came back from a wonderful time at this place. This have become our favorite campsite now. The hosts are super great, Bob is incredible so attentive both of them and the place looks incredible. We had a super great time they where always around if we needed something and any questions they where happy to answer. Or to recommend something. Will be back for sure.
It's a busy place and I would say the nicest campground in town. The mature trees are a big plus for adding shade on a hot summer day. The river is close and it's very scenic. Plus it's not right in town but it's a short and easy walk if you want to get dinner or a snowcone. Be back before dark, they lock the gates at night.
This campground is perfect! Big shady trees, grass and white noise of the waterfall just up the river. The camp hosts were wonderful. Cannot recommend enough. We can't wait to go back!
This place is truly a gem in the dark, we came upon it after unable to reserve a nearby campground in time, a mistake I don't regret in the slightest. Mary's campground offers so much it's hard to fit everything in a single review but boy how it was a pleasant surprise. The entire campground nestled between the mature tree foliage that provided plenty of shade, there's a river literally running right through the middle of the campground create a surreal, almost magical sense of calmness and serenity. We spends a few days there and the experience "at home" was so good, we didn't even go visit the hotspring like we typically do, just camping, cooking, soaking in the sun and dipping in the water and having a blast. Bob and his associate were particularly gracious as the hosts and they would occasionally come and check up on us, brought us wood and pick up trash with their golf cart. after a full day in the sun we had access to the closeby bathroom to shower and took care of everybody needs. I truly can not find a single negative opinion to express about this camp site and will definitely recommend for anybody looking for a true camping getaway experience in this part of Idaho.
New camp host!! And staff They are absolutely amazing super kind and outgoing it looks beautiful and cleaned up! There very friendly and they helped us set up and get our trailer backed in and came and picked up our garbages. It’s also in walking distance of the river, hot pots, he town and the pool.
Lava has been a yearly trip for almost my entire life. Over the past years we began staying in marys place. The camp ground is absolutely amazing. Beautiful, out of the wayno foot traffic from main street, clean, quite and has plenty of shade. The camp host are generally pretty good. I have seen some of the reviews regarding a nasty camp host and we have gone through some of this as well. But i can assure you the current camp host are amazing. We had a great experience just this past weekend. Check in was easy and the hosts were friendly. Every morning they made thier rounds, asking if we needed anything or if we had any trash. We are a very young group and we tend to get loud sometimes. They were not rude when quite time rolled around, they just told us not to keep anyone up. We appreciated that very much because most places freak out as soon as they see the 20-something year olds show up. If we had any questions or needed help, they were there. We also had a couple wounded campers and they made sure to check on them the following morning which was awesome! They were VERY accommodating, we were not totally prepared but they made it work for us. As long as you follow the rules you will have a great time. Just make sure the rules are clear to you before arriving, I always call a week prior to check and ask questions. We have a dog, they never said a word to us about him. Just keep em leashed. My only very small complaint is the parking situation. They allow 2 vehicles per site which in some cases works but in our case it was a little tough and the overflow parking fills up quick. Other than that, we LOVE marys place and will always stay here when we are in lava.
Campsite was great with the exception of the train going by every 30 minutes while trying to sleep. The camp manager was very rude and charged my card for something after we checked out.
Very Beautiful and well maintained. Camp Host was AMAZING and helped us during and emergency! We will definately be coming again.
