The girl who checked me in said they accept clothes for “young people,” not “mom’s stuff.” I’m 20 years old… so I’m not sure what that was supposed to mean.nI brought a small bag of clothes to sell today. I didn’t expect to get much money — that’s not the point. I just didn’t expect the process to take almost 2 hours. I had free time and thought it would take no more than 20–30 minutes, especially since I only brought a few items.nWhen I arrived, I saw a huge line of bags waiting to be checked. After reading reviews, I realized they always seem to have a lot of items waiting, yet there were only 4–5 employees doing everything — checking, scanning, and working the POS system. On top of that, they were talking a lot, unpacking clothes slowly, trying them on, and sharing their opinions about whether they liked the items or not. The overall pace felt very unprofessional.nnIf the store constantly has long wait times, they should clearly mention that on Google Maps or their website so customers can plan accordingly.nnI absolutely do not recommend this place.
Terribly slow service considering the amount of items they are reviewing; the attendants should spend more time working than talking. I dropped off three times the number of items at once upon a child on the same morning and my items there were ready before Plato’s closets was. I also waited the hour for little to nothing back. There should be a better way to quickly assess people’s items so they are not waiting long periods for basically nothing back, or even worse they will expect you to drop off your items and come back to pick up your money they also won’t tell you how much they have valued your items over the phone. Not going back, I’d rather just donate to value village/goodwill.
Brought in a bin of clothing that was all organized and folder neatly. When they told me my items were ready to be picked up they had only taken 1 item to purchase. Said it was because they were over stocked. After I left I looked inside the bin and noticed that number 1 they just threw whatever clothes they looked at back in the bun all messy and number 2 they didn't even look at everything. They just looked at the top layer of clothing.nWaste of time. If your over stocked then tell me that. Don't let me waste my time of dropping the bin off just for you to pretend like you went through everything after I waited around for 45 min.nIts was definitely annoying and pissed me off. I could understand if the clothing was bad but everything in my bin was name brand, clean, no stains, no rips, and no discoloring. Almost new.
This is my favourite Plato's in the city! I come every so often to sell while also looking for new clothes. A few things that helped me long term to have a better idea of what to sell is definitely keeping it in season. In fall I sell more sweaters, boots definitely my sorels and Columbia's and my nice jeans. I buy alot of clothes from garage, Zara and aritzia and as long as I don't stain them, they always take them. I also usually wash my clothing before bringing it in as it is still consignment so they're always fresh. Overall the staff is always super sweet and chatty with me! They help out alot whenever I need a hand finding something and I can tell the staff enjoy eachother and their environment. I've noticed alot of the reviews recently being slandering but my experience of the owners and the staff completely contradict this and I'm aware they have policies to protect their product. Either way, this Plato's is not discriminative and me and my friends have never had an issue in here. Thanks for all the help Plato's Edmonton south!
I wish i can give this store zero rating .Everyone reading this, please do NOT waste your time at Plato’s Closet Edmonton.nnMy brother brought a bunch of branded clothes .The staff told us to come back in 2 hours so they could “examine” everything.nnAfter waiting, they only accepted 3–4 pieces and rejected the rest without any real explanation. And then they offered only $12 total.nYes — $12 for clothes they will resell for $100–$200 each.nWhen we asked why the offer was so low, they just said:n“It’s our store policy, and you already signed.”nLike seriously?nnThis store will waste your time, your gas, and your energy — only to offer you $5–$10 for high-quality branded clothes.nnIf you’re reading this: never ever go to this store.nSell your clothes on Marketplace, Poshmark, Depop, or ANYWHERE else.
