I had my birthday at Cactus Club Cafe and it was fantastic! The food was so good - everything I tried was bursting with flavor. But the real star of the night was our server, Faith. She was so friendly and attentive, really going the extra mile to make our celebration special. Her great service topped off the delicious meal and made it a birthday to remember. I can't wait to go back!
I had my 19th birthday dinner here with a group of friends, and overall, we had a great dining experience. To start, I was a bit let down when I was informed that my patio reservation was moved indoors because they closed the patio for that night. I was looking for a more upbeat, outgoing style meal but instead we were seated in a booth, which was fine. Onto the drinks, we each ordered a cocktail and we were semi -delighted with their taste. The drinks were all quite strong, and I believe they sacrificed the enjoyability of the drinks with a higher alcohol content. Next, the food was just okay, which is to be expected from a casual restaurant like this that offers all cuisines. I enjoyed my chipotle chicken tacos, however my friend who ordered steak frites wasn't entirely impressed by the taste of her meal. I also think the service could have been quicker, especially at the end, where we had to wait 20+ min just to receive the free birthday sundae, then another 20 min to get the bill. I probably won't be returning to Cactus Club since I know there's lots of better options out there, but nonetheless, I had a nice birthday meal here and I'm happy I got to try their signature drinks on my special night.
I had such a wonderful experience at Cactus Club. I ordered the chicken and my husband had the chicken tacos, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavour. What truly made the night unforgettable, though, was our server, Joey. She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and accommodating from the moment we sat down. When she heard it was my birthday, she surprised me with a crème brûlée, which was such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture. Her positivity and kindness genuinely made the experience so special that I even got emotional. I felt truly cared for, and that level of service is rare. I wanted to recognize Joey for how amazing she was—she turned a great meal into a truly memorable celebration.
We recently visited Cactus Club Cafe and had a fantastic experience, proving once again why it’s a consistently excellent choice for both casual dining and quality cocktails. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. IN HAPPY HOURSnAppetizers and Drinks: Hits All AroundnWe kicked off the meal with the avocado dip, which was incredibly fresh and zesty—a perfect, light start. But the real star appetizer was, without a doubt, the truffle fries. They were perfectly crisp, seasoned impeccably, and the truffle aroma was intoxicating. We highly recommend them!nFor drinks, the selection was great. Our group enjoyed both the beer and wine options, but the Pina Colada was a standout; it was perfectly balanced, creamy, and felt like a mini-vacation in a glass.nMain Course: The Mediterranean BowlnFor the main course, I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl and was thoroughly impressed. It was flavorful, packed with fresh ingredients, and perfectly balanced. It felt both satisfying and healthy—a refreshing change from typical pub fare and proof that their kitchen executes lighter dishes just as well as their classics.nOverall, Cactus Club delivered a wonderful dining experience. It's the ideal spot for a night out when you want high-quality drinks especially those truffle fries and that Pina Colada! and delicious, well-executed food. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
Edit: Cactus Club has always been one of my favourite restaurants, which is why this recent visit was disappointing. We walked in without a reservation and were seated at the bar, which was perfectly fine since we were only there for drinks and appetizers.nnUnfortunately, the bar service didn’t meet the standard I’ve come to expect. While I understand bar service can be less attentive than table service, we weren’t checked on often and had to flag down our server multiple times to order additional drinks and even to get extra sauce for our food.nnWhat really put me off was the interaction at the end of the visit. Our bill was around $80 and I paid cash with a $100 bill. The server asked how much change I wanted back, and when I said I’d take all of it and leave the tip separately, she pointed to the tipping guide on the receipt. As someone who is a server myself, this made me uncomfortable — I would never do that to one of my tables. At the end of the day, tips are based on service, and guests are not obligated to tip nor should it be discussed in that way.nnAfter returning with the change, her demeanor noticeably shifted. There was no smile, no friendliness, and when we gathered our belongings and stood up to leave, she didn’t say goodbye or acknowledge us. I said goodbye myself and was ignored. That change in attitude left a lasting negative impression.nnI did still leave a $13 tip, just not the full $20, as the service did not reflect the level I’ve consistently experienced here in the past. I hope management looks more closely at situations like this and ensures staff understand how these interactions can come across.nnDespite this experience, I’ve had many great visits at Cactus Club, which is why I’m still giving four stars. I hope this was just an off night, as the food and atmosphere are usually excellentnnCactus Club on Adelaide absolutely deserves 5 stars. The location in the middle of the Financial District is perfect, and the whole place has that modern, stylish, downtown energy. The multi-level layout and the rooftop Deck with the retractable roof make it one of the best patios in the city.nnThe food was fresh and full of flavour, and the service was fast, friendly, and professional even when it was busy. Their Happy Hour is a major win — especially the Bellinis. They’re so good it actually makes sense why Drake mentioned them. He wasn’t lying. They hit every single time and are easily one of the best parts of coming here.nnDrinks are well-made, the menu is polished, and the vibe is perfect for everything! Overall, Cactus Club on Adelaide delivers consistent quality, great energy, amazing cocktails, and an unbeatable rooftop experience. One of the best downtown spots, hands down
