I recently visited The Rec Room in downtown Toronto. It was quick and easy to get a seat, which was a pleasant surprise considering how busy the place was. However, there was quite a long wait just to get a drink, likely due to how packed the venue gets.nnThe atmosphere is energetic and loud, definitely a lively environment if you're looking for that kind of vibe. The patio was a highlight – really nice setup with a great view of the city.nnThe food was a strong point. It came out quickly and tasted great. Everything we ordered was fresh and well-prepared, which made up for the wait at the bar.nnAs for the gaming area, it was crowded but still enjoyable. It’s a fun way to pass the time, especially if you're with a group.nnOverall: Good food, fun games, and a great patio. Just be prepared for the hustle and bustle during peak hours.
We’ve been to this place a handful of times. It’s a gorgeous space- a refurbished roundhouse. The arcade is great to keep the kids busy. I’ve always liked the food. I had the Salmon Bowl and tried a piece of pizza— both were good. If you’re going to the CN Tower and/or Aquarium it is a great spot for lunch.
Had a great time at the Rec Room celebrating a bachelor party. The place was packed but we were still able to find plenty of machines to play on. There was a great selection of games to play! We sat down for a bit at the bar to watch the game and order some food and drinks. The fish and chips were great, I did not expect the fish to be as big as it was, I would have went with the one piece if I would have known, and the nachos were really good. The prices are very fare for the amount of food you get. I will definitely be back again next time I'm in town.
I recently visited The Rec Room by the CN Tower and, honestly, I left feeling disappointed and frustrated despite the potential this place has.nnLet’s start with the good: they have a fantastic variety of games and activities. From arcade classics to VR experiences and racing simulators, there’s truly something for everyone. The atmosphere is lively and fun, and if you’re going just to play games, you’ll probably have a great time. The venue is spacious, modern, and in an unbeatable location right next to the CN Tower — it’s perfect for groups, tourists, or anyone looking for a casual night out.nnUnfortunately, everything else fell flat for me — especially the service. The staff lack proper training, and some of the managers seem to lack basic professionalism and customer service skills. I was there alone, waiting for my party of eight people to arrive. I asked to be seated at a table so I could wait comfortably, and despite explaining the situation clearly, they refused to seat me. Instead of being understanding or helpful, the staff were dismissive and borderline rude.nnIt’s one thing to enforce policies, but another to do it with zero courtesy or flexibility. It genuinely felt like they couldn’t care less about creating a welcoming experience. In hospitality, first impressions matter, and unfortunately, the way I was treated made it very clear that customer care is not a priority here.nnBecause of this experience, I decided I would never return, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a place where they’ll feel respected and valued as a guest.nnOverall, while The Rec Room nails the entertainment side of things, they urgently need to train their staff and improve their approach to customer service. A fun environment is only as good as the people running it — and in this case, that’s where everything fell apart.
My wife and I visited at the end of May, 2025. This place is geared towards people attending events. This is not fine dining, it is bar food. The food portions are not overly filling and you are paying reasonably for the location. The venue is awesome, and kids will have a good time. They have many video games to play, and even live entertainment. There is a large patio. Wheel chair access available.
