Park Place Hotel

One of the best parts of this experience were the fantastically comfortable beds. The hotel is in need of renovation but for the price in off-season I feel it was worth the money. The restaurant downstairs-Minerva's-has delicious food and wine at affordable prices. Looking forward to going to the top of the park tonight for a drink to take in The View. Being downtown and near all the shops is a definite plus. Overall a decent value.

The best part of this hotel is the location, hands down, giving you quick access to the shops and restaurants of downtown Traverse City. There is really nothing else special here. We had a standard room which was quite dated and had a bathroom that left a lot to be desired - faucet with explosive water pressure and a toilet straight out of a gas station restroom. The bed was pretty comfortable and the room had all the standard amenities like a Keurig, mini-fridge, etc. Renovations are underway now, so I'd be eager to see the hotel once complete - though it's clear that a lot of work needs to be done.

We visited the Top of the Park. View is amazing. Decor is not. Just tired and not fitting for the view, and the revamped menu. It has so much potential to be more than it is. Servers are always attentive!

This hotel has always been my favorite place to stay in TC due to it's older architecture and fantastic location. However this most recent stay left a lot to be desired. Going to TC in the off season is a risk, so I tend to do my share of research so I know what will be open or closed. The hotels website said that the pool/hot tub would be under construction starting April 9, so one would think since it was before April 9th it would be open? Right? It was closed and then when I went to the manage just to double check that it wasn't just being cleaned or something, he was very surly to me and said that it had been closed for almost a year and the website was just talking about when it will be under construction. Well, how am I to know that? Most interactions with staff were fine but anytime I ran into the night manager, he was lacking a lot of customer service niceties. The bar and restaurant were also closed this weekend with no warning on their website. And although the hotel was dead, it seemed they packed everyone that was staying in one wing. Which is fine but I would have rather enjoyed some Shining level solitude. Still gets three stars because the location and price is worth it. Hopefully our next stay there is a little smoother.

Old hotel with lots of character! Being renovated now. Great views of Traverse City from tower rooms. Loved it!
