A hidden gem near Bloor-Yonge Station for quality don rice dishes. Great vibe and is a great option for grabbing takeout! Service is straightforward with their menu. They have a few staff members organized to assemble your order. There is a lot of traffic flow from pick-up drivers from UberEats orders. You can also pick it up in person via the Ritual app. Their menu is small but well-curated. Their dishes are small but the quality made up for it. We ordered the Sake Lover Don Salmon Rice, Korean Beef Rice Bowl , Red Karaage and it was all delicious! It was well presented, the salmon don was fresh and the combination of the ingredients wasabi mayo, red onion, tobiko, green onion, crispy shallot, house teri-sauce was delicious. The Korean Beef Bowl was had a great combination of sweet and savoury sauce with the cabbage and sliced rib-eye, drool-worthy. Would come back to try more options!
We ordered take out twice, and both times were exceptional. You get fantastic flavor, quality, and portion for a very reasonable price. The Sake Lover $14.90 was fresh, Salmon Steak Don $16.50 was moist and flaky, and Karaage Don $13.90 was juicy and crispy. The staff were also professional, friendly, and efficient. This is now one of our favorite spots in Toronto!
This place is really amazing and I never get bored with the food. It nails all aspect of a great restaurant! The portion size is very generous, cooked fresh, taste great, and priced reasonably well. Seriously, you are getting a bargain for the price you pay. I have tried almost all of the donburi and it's hard to say which one is the best because everything is good. It's down to personal preference, but my to-go option is always the Ebi Don or Karage Don. I have ordered multiple time using UberEats or pick-up using Ritual; so far, there has been no issue and the service was very quick and efficient. Overall, it's a lovely place and it has kept me well-fed these past years!
I actually have been to this place quite a few times. I really liked the food here. Customer service is amazing, food is always fresh and so good, the restaurant is clean. I have nothing bad to say about this place, this is coming from a picky eater. I have tried the Sake Lover bowl and the Ebi Don bowl, I recommend both. For appetizers, are only served at dinner 5pm, I strongly recommend the Ebi Mayo. I have heard from friends that the Buta Fire bowl is really good if you are looking for something other than seafood
I ordered 1 sake lover bowl and it took 20 minutes for them to prepare… and while I was waiting for my order, a ton of other people who ordered after me got their food and I found it questionable as my order was raw salmon over rice. Turns out that they didn’t even prepare my order after 15 minutes as they put takeout orders as a priority. lt came out around $18 with tips which I find quite overpriced given it’s just pieces of salmon over rice. The food was well presented but don’t expect your taste buds to explode with flavour and I just lost my appetite after the terrible service; I would much rather get a poke bowl around the corner for a quicker, tastier lunch.
I have four stars because each time I’ve come -I’ve eaten here twice now, visited a total of SIX times- apart from eating here, they were OPEN, but on break.. I understand that everyone needs a break, but please, don’t get customers hopes up with an “open” sign as well as an opened door, and then tell me you cannot serve me because you’re on break. Is there no sign you can place on the door; not even a notice on the “store hours” you have posted on the glass? I just found it a bit tedious that each time I was craving this amazing food on my break from work, I could never eat it because they would tell me they can’t serve me due to being on their break. Aside from this, I always get their sake don, it’s amazing. I’m not a huge fan of wasabi mayo; so I personally ask to put it on the side, so I can adjust it to my taste. The rice is seasoned, which compliments the fish. A nice, atmospheric, cozy restaurant where lots of young kids go, and it’s right along Yonge which allows for easy commute or travel. Customer service is friendly and welcoming aside from when you enter and they’re on break which, as stated before, is understandable to a degree. They smile and welcome you, and give you recommendations for any new comers looking to try the food.
Delicious! This is one of my favourite restaurants in the city. Every meal I've had there is cooked perfectly and the portions are very generous. If you're getting bored with sushi and ramen, donburi is definitely the next Japanese staple you should get in to!
Delicious food and fast service. The salmon sake bowl is incredible. I love the combo of the warm rice and cold fish. Definitely would recommend for a quick and delicious lunch.
Very excited to try this place. It was quite busy during the weekday lunch hour rush.. they had maybe 15 bags of ritual ready for pickup too.. insane. I tried the sake lover - salmon and rice. I enjoyed it but there was way too much mayo underneath. I think for me I need to ask them to half the mayo next time. If not I will try the buta fire bowl next time.
Got a salmon sashimi and fried chicken bowl with some extra chick on the side for take out. It was carefully packed and was ready on time. Both bowls were delicious!
