The ramen looks good, but meats taste slightly old, ramen was way too soaked and almost dissolving, the broth has a super pungent taste of salty mushroom with no flavour of pork. Eggs were also a little old to taste.
My daughter & I love the Calgary Farmers Market and we often meet up with family on Saturdays. Today we were alone but hungry. She decided on ramen from the Oishidesu Ramen Shack. She ordered the Kamikazi ramen dish. I found a table right beside the restaurant. While sitting there, I saw they had Goyza and several other dishes for $5. I love goyza so I had my daughter order them for me. They gave her an electronic pager which is so handy as you usually have to hunt for a seat. The order was ready quite quickly. The soup smelled so good, I did ask for some! The broth was rich and creamy. Yum! The goyza was really crispy on the outside while the inside was absolutely delish! We both loved them. Next time we go to the market, we decided to try some of their 'snack' dishes for 5$ each. But for sure a order goyza EACH!! Thanks we enjoyed our lunch. The reason there is a picture of an empty bowl is because we were so hungry and it was so good!! :
I decided to go to The Calgary Farmers' Market today! First time being there, a lot bigger than it appears from the outside! Glad I went, because I stumbled upon this gem! I decided to get the SUMO Ramen, and let me tell you, hella worth the $15! I’m not big on the thick noodles but these were super good and the broth, omg the broth!!! Sooooo rich and packed full of flavour! I will be back for sure!
If you are looking for a perfectly sized, excellent ramen I highly recommend you stop by! Located inside the Calgary Farmer’s Market, this ramen shop features a build-your-own ramen option which was excellent. Their broth was flavourful and the toppings were delicious. The pork could have used some extra flavour by grilling, but overall it is an excellent choice for lunch!
Ramen and fish balls were delicious. Loved the taste of kimchi and the choice of mushrooms.
Absolutely terrible. Food is NOT fresh and made my son sick. We ordered a Poke bowl for my child and rather than salmon, it was tuna - which was fine. Issue was the food was not fresh and tuna was extremely fishy tasting. I tried it when my child said it tasted horrible in case it was a case of simple whining, this was not the case. The tuna was so disgusting I too spit it out. The rice was also super over cooked and soggy like congee porridge. For $14 you'd expect some quality.... Price is ridiculous for what you get especially since it isn't fresh. $14 for a small poke bowl...wow. Service was horrible too!!! All she did was sit there in her phone and as soon as I went up to order and pay, it was attitude capital like I disturbed her. I have no idea what she thinks a job is but she definitely doesn't understand what a job is in my opinion. I highly do NOT recommend this joint, it is one of the top worst places I have ever been too. Service 0/5 Food 0/5 Atmosphere N/A Price 0/5 If I could rate this place a zero, I would. Definitely not what you would expect from a smaller mom and pop style food joint.
Soup was not warm, raw cabbage was weird in Ramen, noodles were not cooked enough. Totally 1 star. Egg was OK.
Great tonkatsu pork ramen; the kamikaze is our go-to. Sometimes a little shy on the fixings, one half egg etc, but for the price and quality it's still fair.Food: 4/5
I ate the Kamikaze tonkotsu. Out of the 12 or so ramen restaurants that I've tried in Calgary, this is definitely the best one I've had in a food court it's also the only ramen shop I know of in a food court. Overall I was actually impressed, the noodles and pork are pretty good, and the broth is way above average food court expectations. The veggies we're probably the biggest disappointment, especially the beans which were really firm and snappy and the mushrooms which were soggy and not flavourful. I really appreciate the sous vide egg the rich yolk is delicious with a spoonful of broth but I think it's actually TOO soft because it broke when using chopsticks and the spoon was too small to hold it. When comparing to other ramen-only restaurants in Calgary, I can't think of a reason to come here over the others unless you never leave the south west but I am confident they'll improve over time so I'll be back in a few months.
Tonight was my first time trying this place and I was very satisfied with my meal. I had the sumo ramen bowl and it was delicious, highly recommend: I'll be back
