I have visited this place twice now. At first, I came late at night, and it took about one and a half hours from start to finish! At first, one person took my information and checked my health card. I waited about five minutes, and then a person called my name and asked me what my problem was. They checked my blood pressure and my temperature. Then I waited about twenty minutes, and they moved me to another part, and quickly, I visited the doctor!nnThe second time I took my mother there, it took 7 and a half hoursnI registered her with a health card and the same procedure happened but with a long time between each part. She needed a blood test and an ECG and all had been done there. They checked everything and they explained everything patiently and in a good manner. So after even waiting for a long period, we were satisfied. Shout out to every member of the personnel and doctors and nurses
This place is pretty clean, and the services run smoothly if you go early in the morning. The doctors and technicians are very nice and professional. However, the administrative staff at the front desk and registration booth seem arrogant, and their customer service is lacking. The way they handle patients at the first point of contact might actually add more stress to the experience. I urge management to pay attention to the frontline staff who are responsible for assisting patients. On a positive note, the security guard was very helpful. Overall, my experience was good, but the customer service at the front desk and registration booth needs improvement.
I was at the ER on Friday, May 1st.nnI had a terrible experience. I hope ER management will read this and take me seriously. Orange zone. Between 1:00 and 4:00 pm.nnThe nurse who took my blood was a student nurse. She clearly had no idea was she was doing because she spoke Tagalog to her co-worker and clearly asking her questions. Why she was asssigned to take my blood, I am not sure. She proceeded to take it from the vein on top of my left hand. She hasn't even checked if she could take it normally from my arm like is usually the case. My veins are very visible, they are easy to take blood from. I am 3 months pregnant and had some blood work done a week before from my arm and right after ER that day at LifeLabs from my arm as well. What was the reason for her to take it from my hand?? It was extremely painful. My hand was numb from pain for a few hours. It's been 4 days and it still hurts and has a bruise. This was very unnecessary!! I am very upset that a student nurse was allowed to do this and that her colleague didn't stop her before it was too late. Pregnancy is already painful in so many ways, and this obviously isn't the worst of it, but this was definetely unnecessary!
I came in twice, day 1, I waited 5.5 hrs and left as my name was not called. I want to mention that I missed my name as I had to take a important personal call. Since I came back I informed the staff and they kept me on for 2 hrs with no call l, even though I inquired multiple times. They were like, this is how it works. They deprioritized me and made me very uncomfortable and unfair.nnI came the next day again in the morning. Got my turn to meet doc after 3.5 hrs just for him to come up and meet me for 30 seconds. He said we do not consider your issue an emergency and when I asked what might be the issue, or cause. He said I don't know. This was very unempathetic and rude. I had an extremely poor experience with NYGH emergency.
When you don't know what to do, you often feel safe when you are at least in the hospital. I have been here 4 times now and minimum wait time at triage is 3 hours and more wait time with the doctor for another 1-3 hours. Last time I was here, the whole thing took 7.5 hours. I might as well clock in!nnNurses are rude. Raises their voice at you in the hallway. They don't listen to you and just go about what they need to do. No care whatsoever and just going about their day. I guess that's how they are trained in this hospital.nnThere is only 1... I repeat... 1, emergency doctor the night we were there and he had to go around to 6 departments as proudly mentioned by the nurse and we can't do anything but wait some more.nnIf you are happy to wait and need medical attention you are unsure of, maybe come here... but if you feel something actually life-threatening either use 911 or probably crawl inside so they give you the attention you need.
