Amazing food! Average service. The service was a little slow, however it was made up by the delicious and tasty food. We had the Philly cheesesteak and the chicken dish which I forget the name of. And both were amazing. The decor and the place also looks pretty cool. Worth a visit
- was told the mac n cheese was yummy but it was bland - spaghetti with smoked meat was average - calamari is average but good
My wife and I were in the area and wanted a quick bite. Sat for 15 minutes without anyone coming to see us. Asked the manger to get served the waitress started arguing with us that it was impossible that we were there for 15 mins.
It has a retro atmosphere and 50’s vibe, the server was really nice, fast and friendly. Loved my food, it was very well prepared. Totally recommend this place.
The staff is rude and unhelpful, the dishes are dirty and the food is expensive. I asked for the kid's menu or a smaller portion but I was told no and the server argued with me and rolled their eyes instead of being nice about it.
The bad reviews scared me a bit, but my friends and I decided to go anyways; we were pleasantly surprised! Our server, Claire I think, was a sweetheart. Service was great, we got our food fast, and the food was hot and straight out of the kitchen. Food was good!
Good food! Lots of meat on the poutine which was yummy, I had the Poutine Nickels with the smoked meat--my first smoked meat experience--and it was good! Fiancee had a different poutine with bacon and mushrooms; both were tasty. Decor was cozy; coming from the US you can compare it to something like a Denny's or maybe a Johnny Rockets, got that retro diner vibe going. Best part of visiting Nickels was that our server was very friendly with us. Attentive enough without being overbearing and had a friendly conversation with us. Put up with our poor attempts at understanding French, and then kindly brought us an English menu. Made our experience pleasant. Thanks for making our meal pleasant, sir.
Food is expensive and not good. And our gift card was not accepted. Update: they respond to all negative reviews asking us to contact them directly but they never respond; they just do that so people think they care.Food: 1/5
No trip to Montreal is complete without a visit to Nickels! The music, the decor, the ambiance and the vintage pictures and classic memorabilia from a time now gone, not to mention the wonderful mouthwatering food. The smoked meat cooked to perfection that melts in your mouth with flavor. Friendly staff. We walked around admiring the place while we waited for our food, the whole experience is one to remember. Merci pour les bons souvenirs!
Good service and delicious food for a very reasonable price.
