The exterior of the building is historical looking, and some of the rooms have some exposed wood beams, but largely this has been remodeled to be a modern hotel. We were on the third floor, and immediately found the elevator to be an unnerving ride. It is in serious need of maintenance.nnThere is a musty smell through the upper floors, in the room and in the hallways, like old gym socks. We had to both open the window and turn on the AC to make it tolerable.nnThe bed was satisfactory, the bathroom is large, there is a large post in the center of the room, so watch where you walk in the middle of the night.nnThe breakfast is nothing special. Muffins, juice, coffee, and maybe croissants and yogurt if you get up early enough I didn’t. No microwave, nothing hot.nnLocation is really the best thing that this hotel has to offer, and a view if you are able to look over the harbor. But keep in mind, this is a loud part of town.
When booking this hotel, keep in mind it is an old building. You are stepping back in time with just enough of the comforts of today to make this the best hotel I have stayed at. The rustic beams and old charm furnishings was fantastic. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The location was perfect. Right on the harbour and backing onto the Main Street downtown. Lots to see and do. I highly recommend this Hotel for anyone who wishes to experience a taste of history while enjoying their stay!!!
This place was really really great ! Three of us Stayed for a couple nights in king bed room. Small people . The washrooms are perfect. Heated towels and floors , jet bath. , phenomenal shower. Was a littlenDisappointed to not have a view of the ocean , but the courtyard was just as good. Staff were very helpful and more importantly friendly. The location obviously speaks for itself. Smack dab in the middle of everything. A walk to signal hill was easy . Will be staying here again 100%. . It was a nice end to a vacation there. Couldn’t have been better.
Room was great, big, roomy comfortable. Enjoyed the towel dryer, the nice water pressure in the showernThe bed was ultra comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was good. Great location easy to get to and from. Mt fault, I misplaced a piece of jewelry. They found it, called me and made sure I got it back. Iam so amazed. I highly recommend this accommodation.
Greta spot to stay with so much history! We were looking for somewhere central to spend a night in St. John’s and this checked all the boxes. Rooms where great only minor issue was signage to direct you to your room was none existent - was totally fine once we found our rooms.nnBeds are stiff but comfortable, rooms overall were nice and clean. Would stay again next time in in St. John’s
